I know a bit about these rifles but not about the particular animal that i'm looking at buying.  Its a vienna production(from what my roommate tells me, he owns one) that is rechambered for 8x56.  However, it is not the m95 carbine, it is origional full length.  The bluing is almost gone and the barrel has a couple of rough spots but the wood is pretty good and all origional it appears.

What do you guys think about price/value on it?
The price seems okay(we're still negotiating) but I don't know what its really worth.

One other thing that I was told about it is that it was aparently sold post war through the NRA and has hardly been touched since.

all help is apreciated

Not a Stutzen or carbine, huh? Might check the chamber, I'm no expert on Mannlichers, but most of the shorties were rechambered in 8x56R. Yours COULD be in the original 8x50R. I would suggest looking at the Mannlicher-Styer board at Gunboards. Some very knowledgable people over there.http://www.gunboards.com/forums/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=10

All I can tell you are the converted rifles are MUCH rarer than the converted to carbines. Can't give you an estimate of worth, though.
