I'm in the process of building an AR with a 223 Wylde chamber.  Should I use Small base dies or would regular full length sizing be enough for reliable functioning.

Thanks

depends on the chamber.a close tolerence chamber may require them.SB dies ensures that they will chamber in all rifles

Wylde chamber is made for service rifle competition. I doubt that it will require a small base die.

But the fact is you will not know until you fire a few cases through it. I try to avoid small base dies whenever possible. I have had many Krieger and other service rifle barrels for High Power competition and never needed a small base die.

The only thing I use a small base die on is my 40X Rangemaster. Even though the chamber is 0.008" long it is extremly small in diameter and requires a small base die for easy cycleing.

Thanks for the quick responses.  I was hoping I could get away without the SB dies so I can use one set for both the AR and my wife's handi-rifle.  I guess i'll get a set of standard dies and if I have trouble I'll get the SB then.
