I have an L1A1 sporter made on a receiver by Imbel in .308 and want to know if any of the AR uppers will fit on it. Any help or advice would be great.

| Nope, not going to be able to mount an AR 308 upper on any sort of FAL lower receiver.

FYI the Imbel receivered Centuries are very good indeed: The receivers were made to FN specifications & if the rest of the rifle carries serial #'s prefixed UE or UB then it's usually built from a new or near new British L1A1.
I shoot an L1A1 that is consistently 1MOA accurate.

Actually, your L1A1 was more than likely built by an individual. Country never used the Imbel mark that I am aware of. But I could be wrong as I shy away from the Century stuff.
Look on the left side of the lower receiver just under the selector switch. If it is a Brit, then it will have these markings. UE,UB, UF. UB means it was built at the Birmingham armory in England. UE means Enfield and UF means Fazarkley.
If these markings are not there the look behind the recoil plate on the right side. There should be a number stat starts with AD. This is the serial number of the Lithgow arsenal in Australia. If the AD marking is there, then the first two numbers after the AD are the years of manufacture and the last numbers at the serial number by contractor.
Unfortunately, there are no parts of any AR that will interchange.

| why would you want to ? I have 2 fals and a line on #3. One is an Imbel and one is a Century and I have a red dot on the Imbel. It is the simplist and toughest battle rifle ever made. now before all the garand fans start screaming I also said simple because it breaks apart with one leverand the gas port has the adjustment which I've never needed but is a comfort to know its there if needed. I also love the 308 instead of a poodle shooter round for urban warfare as I know that a lot of Iraq vets have agreed with me. keep your powder dry!
