Hey fellas.I `m workin on another blade. My design.I didn`t copy this or such.I tried to design a knife that is a mix of a traditional buffalo skinner and the trusty cooks help the butcher knife.
I have to clean up my messy reloading room this morning then I will get some pics for you guys.
I am starting to get into this stuff.I made this blade from an old pickup truck rear leaf spring.Bought me a grinding/buffing wheel yesterday. It is pretty fun doing this stuuf too..

TG,

If you don't already have one than you might want to get or modify your own grinder into a wet grinder. Also a variable speed grinder that can run very slow or fast is a great set up. Knife blanks and handle scales are readily available and sometimes more worth working with than other forms of metal stock. Leaf springs will make a good blade, but you may need to re temper the blade. Also anyone who's ever repaired a ruined knife edge or put an edge on a blank stock blade will have their own opinion regarding the correct blade edge bevel, I do mine over a period of several evenings using a Lowry Knife sharpening kit after initially stating it with files.

Hey creekwalker.I have a variable speed but don`t have a wet grinder.I sort of like taking a peice of junk, old spring..i.e. good carbon steel and turning out a good blade.
I hear ya on the blanks.I ordered a pair of water buffalo jigged scales for this new knife.
After this one is done I am buying a blank from Texas Knifemakers Supply..probably a cryo tempered bowie blade..
I harden and temper these true handmades with quenching in oil then into the oven at 400 degrees for an hour..
