I talk to Leupold and ask them the same question you just ask and they said the Rifleman was made in the US where all the other Leupold scope are made.  All their scopes are made in the USA.

I was told by a gun store owner ( for what it is worth) that there are only two scope manufacturers in the world that produce their own lenses, Zeiss and Schmidt & Bender. With Schmidt & Bender being the only one who produces everything "in house". He says that everyone else except for the fore mentioned 2 have their lenses, etc. made elsewhere, mostly Japan.

I know one thing. The clarity is no where near their other scopes. I bought a 3x9x40 rifleman awhile back to put on a 22 mag rifle. I was dissapointed with the scope. I have a 4.5x50 Vari III on a 7mm mag and love it. I'll stick with Burris scopes though. I have 9 different Burris scopes on rifles and 2 on pistols and love them all. Be leary of a cheap priced Leupold...

bea,

You're right about the Burris Fullfield II being made overseas.  A couple of weeks ago I went to a scope peddler to check out a few scopes and learned that the FF 2 is made in the Phillipines, even said so on the box.  However, the next step up, the Burris Signature Select is made stateside and it's remarkable in how better the glass is.  Of course, there's about $300 difference in price too!

I haven't checked on this topic lately but I checked all my Burris scopes and there are all made in the U.S. of A. . Two are Signatures and two Black Diamonds. The other are older Fullfields. I guess the Fullfield II is thier version of the "inexpensive" scope like Leupold's Rifleman. If you buy one of those two , you might as well buy a Bushnell or Tasco, they would be cheaper !
