I was looking at this line of scopes yesterday. The price looks good if they are a decent scope that will last.Any of you guys own one?How does it do with clarity, keeping zero with a heavy kicking rifle? Are you happy with your purchase or wou.ld rather have bout a Leupold or such? What rifle is yours paired with.
Appreciate any experiences you have with Sightrons.

Timber,

As you probably remember, I have one of the Sightron SII Mil-Dot scopes on my 7mm RUM Sendero.  I really like it.  It was, at the time, the only reasonably priced Mil-Dot scope with target turrets I could find.

Overall I like it.  The lenses aren't FULLY multicoated, but they are multicoated and very clear.  Mine has an adjustable objective that unfortunately doesn't have its own bezel ring like Leupolds.  Rather, the whole objective lens housing must be rotated instead of an independent bezel.  Not a big problem except it turns my Butler Creek Flip Open scope covers around as well and into the barrel where it impacts it.  Kinda inconvenient.

It's not a Leupold scope but I have shot extremely accurate groups with this scope measuring under 0.3 inch 5 shot groups at 100 yards.

Would I recommend it?  Yes.  But if you have the $$$ to get a Leupold I'd go that route.

Sightron has a super guarantee they'll replace your scope if you have problems, read on another forum about some members whose scopes were replaced with the latest high buck models.

I have the middle tier of scopes, bausch and lomb, nikon, sightron, etc, and have never found them to be a problem, but of course, I have never considered a top shelf scope with the prices they go for.

Then again, I have a tasco pro point original model (Bought in the 90's.) on my .41 mag blackhawk, and have never had a problem, either.

And as to my namesake, the biggest rifle I currently own is a .223

(EDIT)

Oh, my 16x sightron is on a savage 110 long action .223

It works fine, except it's sweet spot is smaller than I'm used to (Fixed objective.) I got an ultimate deal on it from a local shop because they wanted a adjustable objective, and ordered a fixed on accident. I have no complaints

Now, this is used for varmint hunting, for deer, etc, the optics would certainly be overkill for the average shooter.

gene -

i'll echo many commets here.

i own the sightron s1 (3-9x) and have nothing but good things to say about it. it ahs perfomred well, is durable, and has teriffic glass. japanese manufacture ensures that it will be of good quality. i was under the impression that the sightrons are in fact fully multicoated, but i could be wrong on this?

as has been mentioned, the warranty is at least as good as leupold's and the customer service has been great by all accounts i have heard. i would not hesitate to buy another one and based on my first sightron i would gladly step up to a higher-level product of theirs. from what i uderstand, the s2 etc. are even more rugged than the original.

You're right the Sightron Scopes lenses are multicoated, nitrogen charged, waterproof & shockproof.I have an S1 I purchased from Midway on sale for $109.Russ Chastain the moderator of the About.Com Hunting & Shooting forum bought one  for hunting in Georgia, he put it thru a very wet hunt w/o any problems and when Midway had the  sale he bought another.
