Guys, I'm doing some research before my next purchase. I am interested in a 4-16X44 riflescope. The ones I'm really interested in are The Millett Gold and Mueller riflescopes.

Does anyone have any experience with either and if so how do you rate them. I especially like the Mueller with illuminated reticle.  Thanks.    Gary

I don't have experience with either of those brands but for most of my scope purchases I go to http://www.swfa.com   I've found they have pretty good prices.

  Take care Be safe Poacher.

Chuck Hawks has a general rating scale that seems to agree with most of what I've seen elsewhere:

http://www.chuckhawks.com/recommended_riflescopes.htm

The SWFA forums have a similar rating scale (I think it's called the T-Bone scale or something) and most of their data seems to agree with the data from the Chuck Hawks site. The SWFA forums have a lot of guys that have experience with a wide range of optics as well.

I used this data along with some additional input from the SWFA forums when I purchased a Weaver Grand Slam scope for my Browning A-Bolt and I've been very happy with it.

The basic advice I got was to go for good glass over a boatload of whiz bang features (I originally looked at the Mueller APV but settled on a Weaver Grand Slam for a little bit more money instead).
