ok guys i should know this but can anyone tell me how to get my target sharper in my scope?? last night i mounted my new compensating mount and rings on my air rifle for some basement shooting and the target was so fuzzy i could barely make it out... there has to be a way to get even a cheap scope to focus better....

Should be a lock ring just in front of the ocular lense, loosen it up, and turn the ocular lense to focus. Lock it back when you're done.

Some scopes will not focus that close. I have a straight 4 x that has no yardage ring and it will not go that close.

On the other hand I have a 6.5 x 20 that can almost be used like a microscope it will focus in feet. I t is all in the design of the scope. You need one designed for an air rifle , they will go way down .

I also have a 8 x 32 that at about 30 yards it don't focus . the ring starts at 50 . But at 200 you can see .222 holes all day long.

Adjusting the ocular lense won't help you unless it is the reticle that is out of focus.  You will have to purchase a scope with the AO or send your scope back to the factory and have the parallax changed to focus at the short distant you are shooting.

THANKS FOR ALL THE REPLIES GUYS... last night i got a chance to get back my basement air rifle range and i did as charlie said and got a lot more clear sight picture..     had a better time shooting since i could actually  see the target! i was kinda afraid the scope was trashed since it was on a magnum air rifle....   those things will trash a scope with all that two direction recoil.... the scope is rated for rifles but one never knows..........

Ah, but you do know. Spring piston air rifles will kill any scope not designed for the stresses encountered from a spring piston rifle. Even the ones rated for magnum rifles...

oh ya i know a springer air rifle will shake a scope to pieces in short order.... the rws model 34 is considered a magnum air rifle so i got an air gun scope for it...   i hope the lenses are supported enough on both sides to hold up to the strange double recoil....
