OK fellers, I need some input on rangefinders. Never have used one, but want to get one that will do around 600 yards. Looking at Nikon, Bushnell, And Cabela's , which I think is Bushnell also. Don't want to waste money on something that doesn't work.

Most any of them are ok, they all have their little quirks.
I would suggest that you consider one of the binoculars with the rangefinder built in. I have a set of Burris rfb's and it's much better than carrying two pieces

I like the nikon 400, like most things quality will be more money. I spent about 350.00, but I have used the high dollar ones and wow. Wish I could afford one. Mine has lasted a few years and still works good, despite being misshandled a few times. Here is a good site to compare products.http://www.opticsplanet.net/rangefinders1.html

leica works, period.
mine's the rangemaster 1200 scan. i love it. bought it for 800 - 1000+ yd. varminting primarily but it's just as easy to use for big game hunting applications.
if i'm not mistaken, there's a 900 model, too.
check it out. ya might like what you see.

If you want one that will range 600 yards consistely then you need to buy at least a 1000 yard model regardless of brand.
