As a Nikon using fool....I can say the glass is outstanding.  After all, have you seen their line-up of camera lenses?

If it weren't for the owning of two rangefinders, I probably would have given this optic you mention a good look.  The only thing that worries me about it...it's a piece of electronic equipment sitting on something that produces recoil(maybe a lot of it).

My old store manager has the Burris version, and it's a battery eating device.  Wonder if that is normal?

ZardoZ;

I have a number of Nikon optics, both camera lens's and scopes. Always fine optics, never a problem either. However, I have no experience with their laserscope. I've just had to make do with mil-dot scopes, three of them being Nikons. Frankly, I doubt I'll ever buy a rangefinding scope, but that's just me.

Personally, I would save the money on the laser range finding features and use the extra money on better optics. Or, you could buy perfectly fine medium range optics from Nikon, Bushnell, Burris, Leupold or any manufacturer of you choice and buy a nice laser rangefinder. The scope could have some type of bullet drop compensator and you will do just as well. Another option is to buy a Hawke rifle scope with a SR or MAP reticle that can be optimized with the use of their on line computerized program to optimal precision for whatever caliber or load without holdover or vertical turret click adjustment. I own several of their scopes and they work. Check out http://www.hawkeoptics.com and they will not disappoint. No, I do not work for them. But, if you have questions, call Brand Bonnar at their NA distribution center and he will answer any questions you have about their scope. Best purchase is through http://www.sportsmansguide.com. http://www.swfa.com is a very dishonest company and I would avoid any business with them and I would recommend all members of the forum to heed my advice. When presented with Hawke scopes, early in their foray into this country, they threw them aside like they were junk and gave them no consideration. I bought several when SWFA offered none after talking to Brad and loved them. He kept trying and after they saw they were selling, they picked up the brand. Some of their posters on their forum have panned one model and have been critical about the computer program. The program is fine and his criticism was unfounded and I called him on it. Unfortunately, because of my honestly and lack fear to disagree with posts on their forum, I have been kicked off for the third time. The do not like anybody disagreeing with them. Believe me, these are great scopes. Check out the reviews on the Frontier scopes on http://www.snipercentral.com. Now these are their higher model scopes, but all that I own are great. The one panned on the SWFA forum was the Sidewinder. I do not own that scope, but all that I do, have Leupold VX-II to VX-III glass.

Thanks for the information.

I mainly hunt feral pigs (these can range from little 40kg ones to the larger 100 + kg) in what is called "mulga scrub", this combination makes it very difficult to judge target size and distance. I currently use a Zeiss 6.5-20x50 with Z1000 reticle on my .308 in combination with a Bushnell Scout range finder. What I would prefer is to not have to take my eye of my target. The Nikon is for my Tikka T3 Varmint Stainless 6.55X55 Swede.

P.S.

I would love to come across one like this:-
