I've been using my Pact Mk IV for over 15 yrs now. Not the cheapest but not overly expensive either.

Glad your Pact is working so well for you.  I have a Pact Pro XP that neither I nor Pact can get to work correctly.  I replaced it with a CED that is absolutely great.  It is 200 bucks but works great and comes with the cable and software to transfer to the PC.

Does that CED hook up to a printer and have a ballistics program in it? Probably if I were looking at one today and had no idea what I wanted I would get and inexpensive Oler and figure out what I really wanted as I went.

Dale, did Pact make that cronograph good for you, like refund your money? Only problem I had with mine is one of the dogs ate the sky screen wires when he was a pup, Pact sent me out new one's.

The CED does not come with a printer and that was my only hesitation in purchasing it.  I did like the printer function on the Pact.  On the CED you get the instant read out and can review shots/strings on the screen.  It did not come with ballistic software, but it did come with the USB cable and the software to download the data.  You can download it in several different forms.  I download it into Excel and then I can save it to a file, print it out, or whatever.  I then transfer the data into my loading log and then I have other ballistic software that I use.

I sent my Pact unit to them and they had it over 6 months.  After about 3 months I called them and they said it is shipping tomorrow.  Another month I make a call and get the same answer.  This went on until after 6 months I finally got it back.  Still not working.  I bought the CED and am using it now and sending the Pact back into the factory again.

We will see if they can get it right.

i've been using a Chrony Beta Master for about 8 yrs. without a hitch--till I shot one of the wires used to support the sun shade. I ordered another one from midsouthshooters.com for about $113. After I bought the new one, I called Chrony and they told me that you can buy the replacement parts for $45 as long as you do'nt mess up the frame. Good chronograph and the best of service from Midsouth. Oh, yeah, one more thing. If you are going to chrono shotgun loads or slugs, better put at least a piece of plywood in front of the cronograph housing, cause the wad is traveling fast enough to do damage and there aint no telling where it's going after it exits. BTW, do'nt feel bad if you shoot a chrono--they live in a very dangerous place. Clock enough loads from pistols and shotguns and you'll get one sooner or later.
