umm not me ...economical scopes can be a crap shoot ,some are ok some are junk and some are decent and some arent worth mentioning ,most the reviews i read that were positive they were put on low to no recoiling things , in this case eh sure why not ,i've shredded a couple umm economical scopes a couple of decent scopes and at least one "hi" dollar scope , true some have better warranty service but ....it's still a pain
sometimes here u can find a semi decent scope at a semi decent price
http://catalogs.natchezss.com/D142009/t1.asp
it never hurts to ask tho or read lots of reviews

as for the 6.5....aint that sweet ? lolz perhaps not in the same gun but the same caliber( it has a few fans onboard ! )

Thanks for the advice and the link to other swede shooters. I had 2 96's and a 38 until recently and now have a cz550 chambered in 6.5 and it is great. It won't take the 160 hornady roundnose like the swede's[1-7.87] because of the cz's twist is 1-9. But up to 140gr. it does just dandy. Actually about 129 to 120 is about perfect so far for accuracy.

Have two or three bad scopes and they are all "off brand". I use Bushnells on most everything. Have some BSAs, Swifts, one Springfield Armory, and one with no name on it-lol. It is doing well but I do not depend on it for hunting/shooting for accuracy. wc

My economy scopes are Bushenlls, I prefer Leupolds. As to less expensive or cheap scopes, save your folding money and buy a decent scope, because it will serve you well for many years.

I bought one Tasco with an AO bad news from the get go .I mounted it on my Belgium made Browning Semi Auto 30-06 firing from the bench the heat from the barrel melted the reticle. I was in my dresser and located an article I received with a Weaver 22 scope I bought in Tucson,AZ when I was in college. The article title "No One Else Can Sight In A Rifle For You; Here's How You Can Do It" by Jack O'Connor (reprinted from Outdoor Life Oct 1947) Weaver included a sighting in chart covering 22 hornet thru 358 winchester based on a 25 yard zero with a telescope sight.

So, to recap....what would you list as a MEDIUM priced scope that will give good results on most "normal " caliber rifles?
What brand?
What price range?
Thanks and have a good 'un, Guy

define medium price lolz compared to some ( in the $1700 price range ) lueopold would be considered cheap lolz at $700 lolz, weaver's are decent ( usually )had some luck with the older bsa's ,tasco left me cold , bushnell ...fair redfield fair ,alot of the more economical price ranges is like i stated before ..a crap shoot u may get a good one off the bat u may get a junk one ..that applies to most any and all scopes tho one thing to consider then would be the availability of factory service umm btw ? nikon makes sum great stuff and i'd consider it mid range

When Leupold came out with the VX series scopes I found lots of VariX 2 3x9x40 leupold scopes to bid on and buy on ebay and a couple of us bought several. There is a Leupold 3x9x40 Vari X2 with duplex reticle on the ebay auction with 5 hours left present bid is $163.99 item# 250523642702 seller is in missouri. Leupold has a lifetime warranty no matter who owns it so they repair their scopes.

One year at the SHOT show in Las Vegas I checked on some chinese el cheapo scopes, spoke to the vendors who told me my cost for a red dot scope would be $9 & for a variable about $16 but I had to sell the red dot for $90+ and the variable for $115 or they'd stop supplying me.My son bought Barsca Binocs tried to use them on a local mtn deer hunt and couldn't see thru them so he went back to the seller and got another pair.I don't buy off brands of anything been burned too many times.I bought a Korean made Sightron Scope from http://www.MidwayUSA.com after checking with techs that they had no trouble with them, a hunting and shooting forum host bought a Sightron SI3x9x40gl Scope & used it on a very rainy georgia deer hunt with no problems. When I saw a sale at midway I bought one & contacted him , he bought another BTW they have a lifetime replacement warrantee.A friend bought a World Class Tasco Scope in 2000 but one of the adjustment turrets broke off so he tried to get it repaired learning bushnell bought Tasco but wouldn't honor the lifetime warantee on his "OLD" scope, they told him they'd sell him a comparable scope. He chucked it in the trash and vowed to never buy any Bushnell Products .I avoid chinese made everything!

My rifles vary considerably in what I paid for them.
Guess my question should have been more along the lines of:
For those of us that can not afford a scope of the better quality, what is there out there that would work for us at what price?

lolz if i buy and shatter 3 ummm economical scopes is that the price of a medium one ? ( minus labor and bore sighting etc ) ? what if i buy one expensive one and it doesnt last as long as the lower priced one ? it happened to me ..that rifle now wears an old antique fixed power weaver lolz ( so far so good )what i would say would be to buy the best one u can within a price range .. a fixed power has less things to go wrong and will never lose it's zero at different levels of magnification ( cuz it dont have any lolz )alot of the umm more economical scopes may not hold true there, then they may get dark at the higher levels as well, alot of cheaper scopes will last forever on a air rifle or a light kickin' centerfire ,i had a bit of decent luck with the old bsa platinum line ,not quite as good with the contender line yet their handgun scopes are still hanging in there right against a couple of $260 bushnell's..i think i still have a tasco on my 10-22 but it's been so long since i looked at it i dont recall it was a fixed 4x32 tho whatever it is it came on it lolz figger a cheap rifle is around 4-500? so a medium rifle would be around 7-900? then a medium scope ..
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=673564
would still be great on a cheap rifle !!!!lolz(nice huntin scope btw )i'm prolly like u amigo ..i cant afford a scope either this week ,most my last scopes have been pistol here's what i'm testin this year
$200 2.5x8x28
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=353309
$95 2x7x32
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=821444
$300 2x6x32(gee they went up was 268 ...[sigh] )
http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=231185
any bets on the best of'em ?perhaps it isnt fair to the weaver being as it's only a 28 mm...i've had a couple of the last links for quite some time ( one a bit longer)i like the finish best on the bushnell but that doesnt amount to much, the $100 is the newest and least tried but for all practical purposes ? dead tie except for the fund outlay and it's umm on a thumper (14".375 jdj)lolz
