Is there anyone who owned a Forster Co-Ax press and then moved on to a different type of press?  If so, why?

I have used one for 20 plus years. When reloading 300 wby and 300 h&h with

with a long col the handle would catch the the tip of the bullets.

I used this excuse to buy a Redding T-7.

I still use the co-ax to resize with.

Deano, my son just returned from Bozeman. I use a Lyman "O" style for long rounds and the Co-ax for shorter ones, wc

My brother who shoots match rounds has a Co-Ax press that is setup to do only one caliber .308 or 7.62 NATO. It has been that way for almost 30 yeats. He does check all of the parts to make sure they are still in his spec.

He also owns a Dillon 550 for everything else he shoots. I like Dillon and have use a Dillon since the 450 days. If I was to do it all over again now, I would go with the Hornady Loack and Load system, but I am way too invested in Dillon equipment.

He lived there off and on for about five yrs. Took some side trips to NJ, La. and happily back home. He has an old junky Weatherby 300 mag that he says he could hit with but you know how those old cheap rounds are-lol. His E is

New poster here, but i wanted to say that i bought my Co-Ax in the 70's, and although i haven't kept exact track of how many rounds i've loaded on it, i'm sure it's been over 80,000.  It's a great press, BUT i use to be heavily into widlcatting, and the Co-Ax just isn't the right tool for case forming.  Also, as was already mentioned, you start having problems when you load the longest rounds, so i've always kept a Rockchucker around for those chores.

My Co-Ax is, and always has been my "go to press", but it just won't do everything.

I can't find 450/400 shell holders or do you just make them for the coax press? Cato

Cato, The Except for the priming function on top where you need a holder the co-ax press shell holders are universal. I believe there are two different shell holders available. Each has a pair of sliding plates that are cut in slightly different shapes to accommodate virtually all cartridges by swapping them end to end. At least that's how mine works. There is an adapter plate available for use with standard shellholders. You can view them all here by selecting the part number:

Upon further examination I found a list of cartridges and the shell holder applications. The 450/400 uses the same shellholder as the .348 Win. which I don't see listed. I have a .348 case in my collection. Perhaps I can see if it will fit my sliding shellholder. BTW here's the list:

Short answer is yes, I have and I did. In fact, I've owned a couple of them and have great admiration for the original design of the Co-Ax. However, I could never get used to the downstroke operation, plus a few other quirks, and finally gave both of them to friends, who love them.  Mainly, in my case, it was too hard to teach an old dog new tricks.
