A buddy of mine bought a box or reloading supplies.  In this box were some NORMA .308 / 130gr soft point bullets. These bullets are a silver or nickle color.  I have found some reloading data for .308 /130 grain bullets for a 308 win, and 30-06 springfield.  Does anyone on here have any experience with these bullets?

I don't know if there had been any change, but when I was shooting a 6.5 Mannlicher-Schoenaur full stock carbine the Norma ammo and bullets for reloading were of that color. I believe, if memory serves, my bullets were jacketed with a mild form of steel. I aquick check with a magnet should prove or disprove that comment. BTW, a magnet would pick up my bullets. They never did seem to hurt the barrel though. They also killed deer very nicely, usually dropping them on the spot or within a few feet. I never did recover any though. It seems 160 gr. 6.5 bullets penetrate like nobody's business and they just punch on through regardles of the angle. I always wanted to try that load on elk but before I ever had a chance to try some low life stole that rifle. Anyway, check those bullets out with a magnet. That should tell you whether they're steel jacketed or not. If your gun likes them they should shoot just fine. Norma does make good stuff.

Edited to add: I just remembered that I hav a few boxes of Norma 257 Roberts ammo that came with a rifle I bought. I checked them out and while they appeared to have a copper jacket, they were indeed steel jackets with a copper wash. FWIW, they're some of the most accuratefactory loads I've ever used and I'm hard pressed to make handloads that equal them.

It is not only steel which is attracted by magnetic fields, nickel does the same thing.

RWS has their TIG and TUG bullets nickel plated-cleaning barrels was difficult because the solvents did not work very well on that nickel.
