Have you developed the 25 wsm into a shooter since you first posted? If you what powders and bullet weigthts have you used? I am in the middle of building a 25 WSM to the point that the reamer hasn't arrived , everything else is go. Maybe you can help me after three years.

Briar, I'm loading 67.5grs of RL22 with 100gr Tsx and My rifle loves em. Getting about 3750fps with this load. The 110gr Accubond gets pushed along at 3600fps by 64.8grs of RL22.

I finally got the rifle in shootable shape. However, I still have a problem. I have resized 300 wsm cases fl and necked each to the proper dimensions with a 25 wssm fl die. The case will not go freely into the chamber nor can I close the bolt , even on an empty case. I suspect that the shoulder is stretched a tad making it too long in the body . I've taken 270wsm new cases and it works like a glove. 300wsm cases not so. I would like to salvage the cases if at all possible. All have been trimmed to 2.090" All 270 wsm cases have been fireformed. and they work. What else do I need to do to the 300 wsm cases?
Thanks,

21buck, Have you measured the neck diameter? you may have to turn case necks on the 300 brass. All of the excess brass from squeezing a 30 down to 25 makes the neck walls thicker. You might try smoking a case with a candle flame and chambering it to see where the contact point is. RD

RD,
I followed your directions. It is where the shoulder meets the body. I tried moving it back but could not, by lowering the die. I don't have that many in this situation a dozen. The rest I resized a 270 wsm to a 257 by a 25 wssm fl. and to seat the bullet I am going to use the wssm seater. Why buy a new one the wssm is identical to the wsm just a bit shorter. It works. Browning BBR in 06 , replaced barrel, bolt head, magz follower, and ramp. used 270 wsm new brass to form the 25 Pronghorn using the 25 wssm die set. Can't wait to shoot it in. It is just too hot for any load development.
Still am curious how to get it to fit.????

Use an Arkansas stone and lap a couple of thou off your shell holder. Then tighten your die down until they just barely seat. RD

RD,
I have already taken .0002"+ off the holder and tighten down the die, in fact I lower the ram and screw the die down about a 1/4 turn. Turning down the base holder was the first thing I thought of .. Thanks any more ideas are welcome.
