Does anybody load for this cartridge?I am a 270Win fan as most people know and this cartridge naturally sounds appealing. What type of velocities are you chronographing versus what the manufacturers say this round will generate?I have even gone so far as to think about buying me a new Winchester model70 in 270 Wsm and having my old 270 retired.(hahahahahah just kidding)

I was fancying the cartridge for a time, but I then realized that a) I dont really like the rifles it comes in, and b) I already have a .30-06 (good ol' justification). It does fascinate me still though. The fact that by changing bullet weights it really doesnt change POI is pretty impressive. It is also the lightest recoiling of the WSM series, but the whole lack of use thing is killin me.

I've got two WSM's one the 270 and the other 7mm. Don't ask why, I am just a .284 freak, and needed one of the 7mm WSM to round it off. The 270 WSM, is very accurate. I just picked up the 7mmWSM, and it won't be shot for a little while, so judgement is out on that. If you are just wanting to upgrade, I'd just keep the 27o Win. If you are looking at getting a .270 and do not own one at all, definitly look at the 270 WSM. I am sure I will be using both of mine for a loooooonnnnggggg time.

Of all the currant crop of short mags, the only ones that intrest me are the .270wsm and the .325wsm. Only beacase the others really just duplicate other cartridges, The .270 wsm would add a bit of range to your 270 win, and If you think you are a good enough shot to take advantage of it hell , go get one ! To me the .277 is a little light for Elk, I know it works but i would prefer somthing a little heavier, But While i personally don't have a real hole in my arsonal I need a .270wsm to fill, if I found a rifle I really liked so chamberd at a price I liked I would be very happy to have a new cartridge to load for ,  Now a .257 wsm or even a .257 rsaum would be just dandy !!...tj3006

I just purchased the Model 70 in the 270 WSM . I went yesterday and pick up a new set of RCBS dies and 100 rounds of unprimed Win brass. I will let you know how this rifle shoots. I will start with Rel 19 or H4350 and the 130 gr Nosler BT or the Hornady 130 gr Interbond. I don't know why i purchased this rifle since i already have a Win Model 70 in the standard 270 Win. but just wanted something new , i guess.

I'm getting ready to start loading for my 270 WSM . I may start with AA MagPro and the 140 Barnes TXS or the 140 Nosler AB . I just got the scope mounted on my Mod. 70 , used Warne QD rings and bases and the Baush&Lomb Balvar 3x9 with dot ret.

well so far with two trips to the range and I am flat out in love with cartridge. Since I hunt mostly in Florida I decided to go with a heavy slower bullet and pretty much stay close to 30.06 velocities useing 150gr slugs.  The otehr reason I decided to go with the heavier bullet is becuase one day I might go after something a bit bigger that Florida White Tail and pigs. Once I get a good load I will play with lighter bullets.

Useing 150gr HDY Sp's and H4350, Fed 210 primmers and one shot (by me) Winchester brass. I am shooting just under 2900fps and I am not even at max loads. The accuracy from start load to where I am now is wonderfull. The factory win X 150gr loads shot roughly a 3/4 inch group at 100yd and I am doing a bit better than that.

So far the cases seem to hold up well and I am full lenght sizing them. I was kinda worried the 210 primmers wouldn't be enough but they are doing just fine. I haven't tried magnum primmers. Soon I will be breaking in to the new unprimmed brass.

The load should work find on hogs or deer. 3/4 inch groups is nothing to complain about. You could try the same load and just switch the primer to the magnum and see if your group tightens up or just stays the same. If you ever plan to hunt in very cold weather the mag primer will show a difference . Overall i believe you will have a hard time improving on the present load. Good shooting.

No complaining here, I absolutely love shooting this rifle. To be honest the rifle probably shoot better than I can.

I figure I will play/tweak once I establish a good accurate load with what I am useing. I have never gone from LR primmer to a magnum so should I back of the charge if I am at or close to max loads?

90% of the rifles out there shoot better than the man holding them, including mine.
