Force, I was laughing at that last night ! I was going to say something but was having too much fun. Maybe I'll start a topic "Hunting out West". You have to say it like Elmer Fudd though...

I have to go with the 22-250 because that's the one I have. I have only shot Winchester factory ammo out of it so far. It keeps between 1" to 2" at 200 yards on my good days. Once I figured out the trajectory on paper, I hit a grey squirrel at 389 yards. (luck...perhaps, but I won't admit it!). I have a friend working up some loads for me as I type.

Reading through the responces, I'm confused(doesn't take much).
One member wrote that they picked the 220Swift because it would reach out there further. Please describe "further". My Highpower rig will reach 1000yards, and it is just the little .223Remington(5.56mm)....please understand, this is using open sights(no scope allowed in this game). Scope the AR and jeez, I don't know what the maximum range would actually be....but it'd be out there.
I would enjoy using the something like a 220Swift/22-250Rem on a AR-type platfrom, but don't think I could keep up with the barrel changes necessary to shoot the rapid fire part of the course.
Scott (sticking with the .22-250Rem) B

I have both; Ruger M77Vs in both .22-250 and .220 Swift also another .22-250 (Winchester M70V) plus a custom built M98 in .22-250 Ackley Imp. Luckily, IMR 4064 has proven to be one of the most accurate powders-as well as the most accurate in several other rifles--so I can purchase in quanity.

I have to go with the 220 Swift, I have shot one for quite awhile now and have fell in love with this caliber, They are just bad to the bone and with 60 grain Nosler partitions they will take whitetail without any problems.
