For the fun of it...I choose the .22-250Rem.  But if there had been a choice called the .22-243Middlestead?  Well, let's just say it's the fastest(so far).  But I hear tell that there is a fella working on a .17Butler, just got to figure out why the bullets keep turning into "dust"??

Bullets are the weak link over 5,000fps.  And at 6,000fps, well....let's just say "poof"!

Ruger did an accuracy study for several years for each 22-250 and 220 Swift rifle that left the factory. My source is a Jim Carmichael book entitled I believe, "The Complete Rifle."

The 220 Swift won with inherent accuracy by just a tad.

I don't own either and when I was in the market fro a super varmint gun I went for the 25-06 and have been sorely disappointed with varmint bullet accuracy.

I would have been much better off with the 220 swift or 22-250.

Anyway my vote goes with the 220 swift because of the history of the round and visual appearance.

A long legged woman (220 Swift) gets a second look from me although voluptuous (22-250) looks fine too.

It's probably why I went with the 25-06 (very long legged) but like I say the relationship is strained at this point.

"Legs ain't everything I found out" :thumbs1:

I ended up with a .22/250 because I got a great deal on 500 new cases. Paid about $25 for them, so I had to build a rifle to shoot them in.

I own both and each is a great gun on its own, but personaly I like the 220 swift a little better as it will reach out a little farther and that it gives a little better pop at the end.

Barebackpat, does the Two Dot have anything to do with the Two Dot Ranch outside Cody, Wy. near the Mt. border ? Last time I asked something like this the guy got paranoid and thought I was going to look him up. Just curious because I've been hunting out of Cody for many years. Remember, you don't have to answer....        Don

No wyo the Two Dot ranch is quite a ways from here. Two Dot Montana is pretty close to the center of the state.  The town was named after a big cattle rancher Named Two Dot Wilson.  But all that is left is a Bar and a Post Office and a few people in town and the local ranchers.

Thanks for the info ! I have never heard of that town in Mt. . The only bigger town in Mt. that I've been to is Billings. About 100 mi. from Cody.                                        Don

Bareback, that's cool. I'll look it up on the map soon. The only other two towns I've been to is Red Lodge for the first time all the way to the Yellowstone gate. What a trippy little town. In the winter they didn't plow from the Chief Joseph hwy to town. they would park their snowmobiles at the corner and use them to get back and forth. This year I heard they are going to plow all the way to town. The other town is off the 120 coming from Cody right after Clarks Fork near the Mt. border. I can't think of the name at the moment. There is a little bar in Clarks Fork next to the hwy. The lady there makes some awesome chili.

Cory, speaking of 22-250's . I put 40 once fired Win. cases in there and a box of .22 cal. 55 gr. FMJ's. Don't use them anymore. You might in your AR's.
