Do any of you guys own either one? I have the Lyman manual model, and it works well, but is slow. Since I bought the RCBS Powered Case Prep Center, I'm thinking of upgrading to a power case trimmer as well. Especially since I have so many .223 cases to prep. A hand driven tool just isn't practical with so much trimming. I'm leaning toward the Lyman powered model because I already have the manual model, and many parts like pilots, cutter heads and such, can readily interchange. The Lyman model is also smaller, and a little less expensive. I was just looking for some feedback from any of you guys who might have one. Bill T.

I have the RCBS powered trim pro. I really like it with the 3 way cutter. Trimming is a 3 step process, unless you have the 3 way cutter. With a normal trimmer you trim to length, chamfer inside then chamfer outside but with the 3 way its reduced to just one step.
I can trim about 150 per hour. That includes a separate step of uniforming the flash hole with a power drill.

I don't have a power trimmer but I do have both styles of RCBS hand trimmers and I don't care for the new one at all. The older model holds the case on center with a collet and the newer one uses a shell plate. The problem I have with the shell plate is you have to slightly release the hold on the case to get the pilot to center up so you're constantly pushing on the lever. If you don't it drags terribly and hand cranking can get really tough. Both of my arms get tired using this one! If you're not careful and don't push straight down you can also tip the entire end to one side causing the pilot to drag and pulling the pilot back out can be a chore. If I bust my knuckles with it one more time it's going to be a yard sale item. If "I" were going to buy a power trimmer I'd get the Lyman. I just can't justify buying the motor and base for the RCBS trimmer since it's only around $20 difference for a complete unit.

Not RCBS or Lyman, but I use and like Lee's trimmer system. I chuck the cutter in my drill press, and can trim a whole bunch of cases in a very short time. Nothing to move out of adjustment, nothing to mess with, just screw the length gauge into the cutter head and go.

I bought the power drill conversion from Lyman and it works really great. Then the RCBS case deely bob that chamfers the inside and outside of the case. So O can trim with the Lyman using my power drill and then chamfer the neck inside and outside. I do 100 cases in 15 minutes. I added the military crimp remover fot the RCBS setup.

I just picked up the Lee set to trim mine with a dremel or drill. The drill press is a good idea.
