One of the best Varmint loads I have ever shot out of a .243 Win consisted of Rem Cases, WLR Primers...42.5 Gr IMR 4895 with a 70 Gr Nosler Ballistic Tip seated to .002" of the rifling. Super Accurate out of my old 700 Rem as well as my Dads Savage 110E.
Uniform the primer pockets, deburr the flash holes and drop your initial charge weight by the usual 10% before working back up as this is a hot load.

I had a long time ago a Remington 700 BDL in 243. My best load for that rifle was a Sierra 85 grain HPBT loaded with 36.5 grains of IMR 4895, The primers and cases were Remington. I had to look way back in my notes, back to volume 2 of currently 37 volumes. Keeping notes is critical to good reloading.
Over the span of 5 years, I took 5 deer, 2 beavers, a bunch of coyotes and a huge amount of G'Hogs with this load.
This was done with the old IMR powder, not the current one.

there seems to be more 243s twisted 1:10 than the 1:9 versions but the first 243 I owned was a 76 cenntenial model ruger 77 in 243 1:10 twisted that was just hell on wheels with the sierra 85 gr bullets as coyotes or deer were just dead critters walkin as those 85 grainers made them get on their knees quick.........................

I only have 1 243 win. that is twisted 1:9 and it is a 700 Remington that was born in 1962 and it shoots 100 grainers beautifally the rest of my 243s are 1:10s and they shoot as well as the 700 but only with 80-85 grainers and IMR-4350 shoots so well out of all my 243s that I just dont even bother lookin for another......................
