I contacted them about a die for 7mm rem mag and talked to them. He put me in touch with a reloaded who uses the die and by chance lives near my brouther-n-law who reloads. The contact knew my B-N-L and I found that he had some problems in the 300 and 7mm that this die fixed. B-N-L met him and said I will have the problem of case expansion and standard dies would not fix. I will buy one this summer because I know it going to happen!

Let me know how it works for you!

These 'sleeves' have been used by reloaders for quite sometime.  They work.  Just that simple.

Didn't realize that they were this expensive now?  Guess with the price of raw materials and the price of everything else it'll be the way of the future.....expensive!

Thanks for the info Sako06. I have had to throw away some good brass because it got too hard to chamber in my 7mm Rem Mag. I think I see one in the near future on my bench!

I got one not long after larry wills brought them out several years ago  ...

One reason for the expense is they are really hard steel , another is they arent taking the world by storm , and he makes 'em only after x number of people put orders in ..

Sometimes you can get lucky and he has them for sale on the website ..

Seems I paid around $90 ~ for mine and thats been a while ..

Fellow Shooters,

I just signed up on this forum.  The members on this site look like an interesting group of shooters, and there's a lot of good information here.

I'm the guy that designed the Belted Magnum Collet Resizing Die.   It's good to hear from our customers.   The price of this die hasn't gone up since it first went on the market in 2002.  However, it is getting more and more expensive to manufacture, and that's why I need to build a long waiting list before each production run.

If it weren't for all the lawyers out there, I would have continued to sell them through MidwayUSA, Midsouth, R.W. Hart and Cabela's.   However, the product liability insurance for firearms related stuff is way too expensive, and the big distributors won't buy from you if you don't have it.

I don't advertise this collet resizing die except for by word of mouth, and sometimes it takes 6 months to get a few hundred people on my waiting list . . . . at the moment these dies are in stock.

I do have one of them and they work great.  The only belted cases I load are a 308/358 Norma.  With the price of that brass, I figured it was a good investment.  I seem to recall buying it thru Midway back in 04 though.

Guess I've been lucky. I've loaded for various belted magnums over the years and haven't experienced the bulge in front of the belt.

Have reloaded the same brass for my 308NM several times without noticing any "bulge" on the brass, nor having problems with chambering the cartridges so far. So, when can I expect this to happen and how likely is it that I need a Belted Magnum Collet Resizing Die?

The case "bulge" on belted cases doesn't occur until after the second or third reloading, and it's not something you can see.   You need to measure the width of your handloads just above the belt.   Read the Reloading Questions section on my website at http://www.larrywillis.com  and you'll find the answers to every question you can imagine about reloading belted magnum calibers.

If you reload a belted magnum caliber - you need this die  .....  unless you don't mind occasionally operating your bolt handle with a mallet.   Most shooters have always just tossed their brass when they start to get tight.   Brass is too expensive today, and you probably don't want to do that.  You also don't want to put that kind of wear on your bolt lugs.  Your handloads should chamber without being able to "feel" them jam into the chamber.

I've loaded belted magnum cases upwards of 7-8 times without needing such a device and didn't need a mallet to open my bolt either. Guess I've just been lucky, huh?

Pretty lucky.   It is possible, it's just not likely to work that way forever.  Sooner or later you'll experience chambering problems.   Good luck.

I bought one about two months ago. Just used it last week. I'm over 55 so it took me a little bit of a learning curve to get the hang of it. But, I got ot tell you it does every thing Larry says it will. It is a first class made tool!! I'm very happy with it.
