i am running 100 grain barnes tsx's over 73.5 grains of reloader 22 in my vanguard.
too cold and snowy to breakout the chrono, but, they should be leaving the barrel at least at 3,600 f.p.s..
i didn't like the looks of the black plastic stock, so i camo'd it. she wears a zeiss 3.5-10 conquest, in luppy d.d. mounts.

here's a 3 shot group.
lone hole is 1st cold bore shot, out of a clean barrel. then 2 into the top hole. the lines are 1/4". after shooting this group with the new load, i zero'd at 2.25" high. i am minute of deer to 500 yards without holding any air.

i know its late replying, but i have the 257 sporter model like the wood ,like the gun and its shoots moa.i have a 5x15x50 3200 elite on it all is well.but the damn thing weighs about 9 lbs ,so it goes hunting with me maybe 3 days of 30 while white tail hunting.the remington probably won't shoot anybetter than the weatherby because remington had to put that freebore in the chamber also.beileve that freebore is 1/2 in. have seen in catalogs though bell&carlson and others make lighter stocks for it though, may go that route.but sure am happy to have found so many 257wby fans.that other rifle that goes hunting with me the 27 0ther days is a 300wsm in a browning a-bolt .its about 2 1/2 lbs lighter shoots just as good just not so heavy. dont need the load recipes or anything just wandering if any of you guys like reloader 22 in the 257wby.if i go with 22 won't have as many powders around the house because the short mag likes it very well.asking because i have shot 2 boxes of factory rounds .figuring 40 pieces of brass should last me awhile.

RL- 22 is one of the better powders for the .257 Weatherby Mag. that I have used.
