Today I spent a couple of hours on rebuilding my press with the upgrade the mail delivered to me yesterday;

When I looked at the very basic drawing on the RCBS site, I expexted to receive a linkage wich should be inserted somewere in the mechanism underneath the shell-plate and a couple of cams to activate this linkage.

What I got for the money was a cam set, some distance pins to keep the work underneath the bottom-plate safe when adjusting the cams and a complete new bottom plate mechanism with everything exept the shell holder plate and the plastic top installed ,so complete with APS feed mechanism!

It took me about 2 hours to install these- no hurry because I like this kind of job- on the press and now I do have a real progressive RCBS!Works like a real professional tool.

I hope next two steps on the RCBS-upgrading list will be a case-feeder and a different powder measure with a sliding powder-bar, which I think is far more accurate ,and Dillon has a real serious competitor for their 650 press!

Good report on the RCBS upgrade. The Dillon 550/650 already has serious competition from Hornady, and now the RCBS is right there too. Competition is a good thing!

The most commonly criticized part of the Dillon progressive presses is their PM. They don't handle long extruded powders well at all, nor do they handle fine powders either. I've seen far more people putting RCBS or Hornady PMs on their Dillon presses than Dillon PMs on any other press.

Take a look at the variety of powder measure types. Even the best PMs (Harrel, etc.) use a cylindrical, rotating chamber. The best load from the end or from the side, but none work by sliding a gate open and closed lengthwise along a rectangular chamber like the Dillon.

It is all solid steel I mounted on that press, no plastic exept for the small parts of the APS-feeding system, and after fine tuning and applying some grease on the cam surfaces you only notice the decent click of the spring loaded ball engaging in the next fixation hole.

I think, this upgrade makes the press more reliable because one of the mayor problems was when working in a kind of a hurry, bent primer-seater stems which is impossible now, because the shell-holder plate advances when the primer- seater is in the full down position.

When I was thinking a bout another powder measure, My thoughts went to the old Belding & Mull  I own and which is the most accurate measure I have, better than my Harrell and Bruno measure.

Regards,

Paul.

I too have a RCBS Pro 2000.  I have not been in love with it like Dillon 550 owners.

Since I have not done much pistol reloading lately and it has sat idle.

Where is the upgrade info?  I presume on RCBS web page.
