Placed an order with Midway the other day (should be delivered tomorrow) for some odds and ends to load for the .25 Remington. They had Redding's .25 Remington dies at an inventory reduction price, so I saved about $10 on them. Of course, now they are OUT of .25 Remington brass that they had in stock last week. Didn't even show .30 Remington, so they are out of that as well.

Ended up ordering from Buffalo Arms for the brass, which I'm guessing is reformed .30 Remington.

Midway is also out of .30/40 Krag brass, had to get that from Graf's.

Guess I should concentrate on loading .300 WSM, or 7mm Remington mag, or some other cartridge loaded by everyone and his brother. Might be easier!

Now Charlie, What fun would there be in that? Last night I was trimming shotshell cases about 3/8" shorter for roll crimping, wrapping 1" mylar squares around Remington SP16 wads so that the powder wouldn't leak along the side of the Win Game load cases I was using, seating the wads by hand with a dowel so that the loader ram didn't pull the mylar encased wad out of the case, adding two .45cal wads cut from a meat tray to the wad prior to adding the shot to turn 1 1/8 ounce wads into 1 ounce of capacity, adding the shot, adding a card over shot and taking 25 at a time to the drill press for roll crimping. All to reliably feed my 2 9/16 chambered 16 guage model 12 Winchester made in 1917.  So i said to myself....... RD

RD, guess we get bored way to easily.

Got an order from Midway AND Graf's yesterday, my .30/40 Krag brass and the rest of the things I need to make cases and load 10.4 mm Swiss. Now I need my .25 Remington brass from Mr. Gullo.

Next on the list is the 8x56R Kropatchek. Maybe.

Charley, You don't happen to have an 8x56 Mannlicher-Schoenauer do you? Not the rimmed one but the one that's just a whisker shorter than an 8X57. I've got 20 loaded rounds for one. I'd hate to have to buy a rifle just to burn them. RD

Box, Yeah I know they've got them and I've ordered a few but I'm sort of a cheap skate and I had the components that I don't want to waste so.......RD

Nope. don't have one, but have a friend who does. His father is a gunsmith, but other than hunting, he's not much into guns or handloading. I think a family friend left it to him.

I guess there are worse reasons for getting a  rifle. I built a .22/250 a few years back because I ended up with 500 pieces of brass as part of a deal. I needed to shoot them in something!

I sometimes wonder how smart it is owning all the oddball rounds I do.  Some of the not so poplular rounds I load for are the 260x2, 280AI, 307 Win, 308 Normax2, 356 Win and 358 Norma.  But, it makes scrounging load data kind of fun.

Try 8x56MS, 9x57, 6.5x53R, 6.5x54, and 7.65x53--oh, wait, I sold that one; just not the dies and brass.  Guess I need another'n.  I'm afraid I'm hooked on the whole process of shooting odd stuff; finding/making brass, finding bullets, loads, clips, etc.--I'm currently lusting over a 9x56MS, though heaven knows I ain't got the bucks right now to buy it!  I love mausers (7x57 and 6.5x55 are my favorites, but...), adore mannlichers (even on GEW and Carcano applications), and delight in everything J.M. Browning designed, though I can't afford most of those--yet I hunt almost exclusively with muzzleloaders; big game, birds and ducks.  Go figger!

Windy, Where are you located? If you pay the shipping I'll donate some 8x56 I took in trade. RD
