Ok, so here is the load:
22-250 Remingtom
40gn Vmax
Varget
Fronteir brass
WLR Primer

Hornaday 7th shows their testing done with a Remmington 700, 26" barrel, 1 in 14 twist, and 2.350" COL

Im shooting from a Savage Model 10, 22" barrel with 1 in 12 twist.  My COL is just a tad shorter at 2.348-2.349, and I also use a LEE factory crimp on them.

Generally I come out within about 150fps or so on various loads, but these are comming up roughly 250fps short consistently.  I have never used the crimp die before this batch of test rounds.  So far I have worked up to 36.4gn (started at 33.3) and am averaging a bit closer at 3694fps with that set.

My question is....is this an acceptable variance in velocity, or am I doing something else that I should be looking at?  If interested, so far my tightest group is .625 @ 34.4gn (Hopefully it will tighten up on the next round of testing with higher charge).  I wouldnt normally be so concerned with the velocity matching, but normally I am closer to book.

nope, its about right. among many other factors, your barrel is 4" shorter. you're on the right path - don't sweat it.
