After a little adjusting to these Varmint Grenade bullets from Barnes, this is for my 221 Fireball pistol, 233 pistol and carbine, I find they are not perfect for long range target shooting, but for ground hogs, they work great. Big Holes and the ground hogs don't shoot back.

I am shooting the .308 168 gr TSX in in M1A, Rem 700c/300 RUM, and a couple of other 308 bolt guns. I find these bullets do inflict a lot of damage, but don't ruin the meats. But I don't like eating Coyote and that is what my test subjects are. Plus I am doing under an inch with a 3 shoot group with my M1A.

Good bullets, great for hunting.

Jerry

Hi Jerry

the TSX's are the replacement for what the XLC's(blue coating, no groove's) used to be

but both shoot extremely well in both 30-06 and 300win mag

(RL22 works very consistantly shot to shot for me)

and the 168gr seems to be the most accurate bullet for 30 cal shooting.

like the barnes folks say these bullets like to be backed off .030" - .050"

i guess it gives them a little time to build up speed prior to hitting the lands

and they have been very impressive on game

have not tried the varmit grenades yet ,

barnes did send me a very cool demo DVD ,if you go to the web site they send them for free

bear season opens aug 1st here in washington and i'm hoping to thump a bruin

useing my 300win mag ,a 168gr TSX push by 75gr of RL22

I do have the TSX in.224 for my .222Rem. but until now I am not satisfied with the accuracy of my loads, think, I might try to give them a little bit more free flight.

The Grenade is as far as I know not yet available over here, but considering the weight of the bullet, I do not think, I'll give them a try.

For varmint up to foxes I am completely satisfied with my 50 grain V-maxes, and I am still praying silently, Nosler one day will bring out their outstanding Accubond in .224 cal, which definitely makes an end to my search for the perfect bullet for roe-deer.
