Two new cartridges, .25 Remington, and 10.4 (.41) Swiss.
The .25 was Remington's answer to the .25/35 Winchester. Data was scarce for this one, not much out there. Factorys quit loading it sometime in the 1950s. Cases are from Buffalo Arms, necked down .30 Remingtons. I'd have formed them myself, but couldn't find any. The 6.8 superduper or whatever black rifle cartridge is based on the .30 Remington, also, but is too short to form .25s from. Damn.
Anyway, load is 100 grain Hornady SP over 25 grains of IMR-4895. Extrapolated from .25/35 data, .25 Remington has a bit more capacity and is loaded to a bit higher pressure, so should be plenty safe as a start load.
The 10.4 was formed from .348 Winchester, turned down at the base, and shortened and reformed. Hope it is worth the trouble to form them, my rifle has a less than pristene bore. Should be shootable, but I'm not expecting much accuracy wise. Maybe I'll be surprised. Bullet is Lee's 310 grain FNGC, drops from my mold at .430. Bore slugs about .427, should swage down on firing. Dummy cartridge does chamber fine, even with larger diameter bullet.
Can't wait to take them out next weekend and try them out.
