I have a very nice stainless steel ultrasonic cleaner with a 3 liter tank, was thinking to use it for cleaning my rifle cases too.
I use this device for cleaning small parts of clocks, it works very well, I just do not know, what kind of fluid to use for case cleaning.
My tumblers do clean the rifle brass very well, but only at the outside;the media is trapped in the inside and does not move enough inside the cases to even reasonly clean them.
Perhaps I am overdoing this, but if I make an attempt to clean something, I think, I do not ask too much when I want to see some results.
Kind Regards,
Paul.

I use a mixture of 75% water and 25% White vinegar and added some drops of dishwasher liquid. It works, but while the U.S-cleaner is a quite strong model, I expected a lot more result. I even used the built-in heater and warmed the liquid up till 70*C.

| you wont get a spotless shiney case.there wil be some discoloration but the buildup will flake off.my cleaner was a demo for the USMC many years ago.it is a 1000 watt 7.5 gallon.it has enough power to heat the water to an uncomfortable level in a few hours.the vinegar solution should work well.i have wanted to try vinegar sometime myself.

Never tried and ultrasonic but I did buy some Iosso Brass case cleaner from Midway and wasn't happy with the results. When I was searching for a better idea someone said it worked wonders in an ultrasonic. It might be worth a shot.

| In the second hand thrift shops here in the U.S. one finds these foot baths that have built in heaters and vibrate. My wife just picked another up for me at a cost of 2.00, normally they sell for 10.00 used, I use the ceramic and a concentrate soap I bought from the ceramic supplier. This stuff works like a charm. Uses about a cap full to the water charge. It biodegradable so it gets tossed out on the snow when I'm done. The concentration is mailable, so there is no issues with flammability.

What I am looking for is a mixture I can make myself at low cost which will not be a burden to the environment and works FAST without doing something to my cases like ammonia does.
Wether my cases come out red, green, purple, yellow or whatever colour one chooses<I really do not care because after drying they go into the tumbler anyway.
I just want them to be free of residue from the inside.
Regards,
Paul.

It Is truly hard to know what you have available in your home country? Inside cleaning with the ceramic has worked better for me than any other method that I have used. The use of vinegar is an acid, at best they will will give you a lite etch. To clean the inside of the brass cases it takes a lot more than just the chemical you use.
I believe you have to have impact abrasion inside to clean the cases, that is why I use the ceramic media. where the problem comes in, is to find the correct size and shape to clear the mouth and not get stuck inside. You need different sizes to clean a wide assortment of cases.
In your home country I would research brass cleaners/polish to see what they use. I would think that any cleaner/degreaser that does not make the brass brittle would probably work. Any good detergent along with and impact media should work.
