| I have a bunch of various brands of 4350... are they pretty much the same qualities?? ( I have heard that 4831 cannot be inter-changed... ) so far my 270 likes IMR 4350... but I'm getting low on it, and wonder if I can use Hogdons or AA in the same loading ammount... Bob

Bob, you shouldn't interchange your various brands of 4350 without checking: http://www.hodgdon.com, or http://www.accuratepowders.com. While they may be close in burning rate, I'd like to see it in print first..
Enjoy what you can, endure what you must!!

Always check your burn rates ahead of time. Most powders that carry the same # are close in burn rate but not exact. Proceed with caution....

| http://www.gsgroup.co.za/burnrates.html like all charts this one is only an indication.when it comes to the 4350's back all the way down to the starting loads of pressure tested data and you should be fine.

| I've used both H4350 and IMR4350. In my experience, with the two lots I had, the IMR was hotter and I needed to dial it back 1-2 grains from the h4350. Best advice as stated earlier. Go back to starting loads and work your way up. RD

| If you look at current burn rate tables AA4350xmr ranked at 212, IMR4350 @213 and H4350 @ 217, so they are close but seeing it in print is sage advise. I hope you have no intentions of mixing them together.

| Thanks, No, I would never mix them.... and thankyou for the burn rates... I assume that the higher burn rate means its slower ?? I will start a bit lower than my IMR load when I get the rifle back "running".. I am doing a stock job on it now.. Bob

Bob,
Correct, higher number slower the burn. I've always had good success with H4831 @ 57 grains behind a 130 grain Spire point, shooting out of a Savage Model 110c.
Good luck with stock work and happy hunting.
Dennis

| If you contact both Hogdens and Accurate Arms they will send you paperback loading manuals.
