2 boxes, 40 rounds total. They're still in the boxes and don't appear to have been reloaded, though I can't swear to that. The box says:

Super 7X61mm Softpoint Semi-Pointed Boattail
160 Grains, 10.4 Grams, Index No. 257
AB Norma, Match Grade, Amotfors, Sweden

I dunno' about the price, some say $40 a box now, but that's too high for me...how about $25 a box, $50 total plus shpg?

PM me and we'll arrange it, via Paypal?

Mike, I just noticed that you live in B.C., I live a little south of you, but that could be a shipping problem...I PM'd you to try and sort it out.

K Mike, the 7x61 is going off in a truck today, should be at Colville by Thursday.  Maybe Wednesday (Yea I know it's slow, but he's a slow driver :)

That sounds like a nice weapon, have fun shooting and reloading

Hi folks. I am a new guy on here. I have a 7x61 M60 Schultz & Larsen.
I live in Saskatchewan Canada and am a die hard Whitetail Hunter.
The Rifle works great on them. The M60 has a 26" Barrel and a 12 twist.
I have went from 162 gr to 110 gr to find some consistency. The Best is
120 gr Hornady HP. They shoot very consistent and a solid group all the
time. I shoot Nosler Partition in 140gr and they are OK for me because I
am used to them and know what limits I have. they are second best to
the Hornady. They do not group as well but they work. The Rifle is the
best shooter I have. I got it in the early 80's. I always wanted one and
got it. Dumolin also made a 7x61. 24" BBL. Not anywhere as good. The
M65 S&L has a poorer bolt locking system and a 24" BBL. Neither one of
them comes close to the M60.

I have a M60 and M65DL.  The M60 is 7x61SH with a 1x12 twist and the M65DL is 308 NM with 1x10.  The differances I see between them, is that the 60's firing pin locks on closing and the safty works up and down.  The 65DL's firing pin locks on opening and the safty works fore and aft (like a Winchester M70, only not as loose).

I have not worked up loads for the M60 yet (I plan to use Hornady and/or Nosler 140 grains), but the M65DL is one of the most accurate rifles I own!!

I'll keep you all posted as I work on this.

Best of luck hunting and stay safe!!

I have a M60 S&L 7x61 I aquired in 1962 used( as new) with 100 rds ammo. It has a 6 power scope ( bausch& Lomb) with scope adjustments on the scope mount. I shot it mayby 20 rounds in the 60s and its been laying around many years. Still in very good shape. I recall it being a very good shooter and kicked like a mule. Would part with it for a reasonable offer. I like militery  stuff. Also have 7X61 Dies. Anyhow this is a great fourum

Regards, Mike

I have a shultz and larsen chambered in 7 X 61 S&H.  Great rifle.   Ammo and brass are hard to find but I have about 10 boxes of which 3 are full.  I wan't to reload the other brass, which will be my first foray into reloading.  I have also e-mailed norma and they do have 7 x 61 super brass in stock.  Many of the rifle's that used the 7 x 61 super have been rechamber to use 7 mm remington mag, but i'm not going to go that route.

Also, Ninchy, wondered where or if you are buying 7x61 ammo anytwhere or if you are reloading.  Thanks in Alberta, but with a farm in Porcupine Plain Sask.

Another good Canadian with a great Rifle!! You do not say if you have an M-60
or M-65. Big Difference as the M-60 has a 26"-12 twist Barrel and the M-65 has
a 24"barrel and 10 Twist.I have an M-60. I found the biggest bullet I can use and trust to be fairly
accurate on the M-60 is the 140 Gr Nosler. I load mostly the H120gr HP. I shot an Elk a couple of weeks ago with the 140GR and he dropped dead. It worked great. I have shot a lot of DEER with the Rifle and never lost one with either Bullet. I use H450 or H4831
powder. To me the H450 is very close to the old Norma MRP and easier to get. I load according to LYMAN Specs and usually stay 1 GR under Max. As far as brass goes. I have about 100 or so and that is plenty for me so you have lots. As long as you do not overload  Norma Brass will last forever. With the M-65 you can load right up to 175Gr.I
would use the Hornady 162 gr. It has one of the highest Coefficiencies of any Bullet. I
hoped I could use it in mine but no luck!! all over the page.
Good luck and if you order your Dies from RCBS make sure it works cause I have one from them that does not size properly. I use a LYMAN Dye and it works perfect.
I live in Tisdale so your farm is not too far away from us!!
Good luck. If you need anymore info Email me at lstof@xplornet.com

Ninchy:

I tried your e-mail address.  Hope it works as I have some questions in regards to loads.  Like you I have experienced some difficulty with RCBS dies.   I've loaded 7X61 years ago and went through 3 sets of dies before I found one that worked.  You say Lyman has dies?  Apparently I have a Model 65 with a B&L scope with European mounts.  I have not had a lot of success with 140 gr but would like to try 162 & 150 gr bullets.    Look for your reply
