Couldnt believe it, but my local Gander Mtn. had some of this stuff. I have had my eye out for 2-3 differnt powders for my first 7mm rem mag reloading.
I have never loaded 7mm rem mag before so I was wondering if anyone here loads 7mm rem mag and have they tried IMR7828??

I load for a 7mm rem Mag but have never used 7828. All I use is RL22,NEVER needed to try another powder.RL22 makes my 7mm Mag walk the dog.
The only other powder I would consider is IMR 4831 only because I keep 7 pounds on hand for my 300 Win Mag.
Good luck to ya on loading for your 7mm Mag.

My favorite powder for the 7mm Mag is Hod 4831. I started with this powder in the early 70's and have never had a reason to change. With the lighter bullets to shoot groundhogs i used IMR 4350

Well, I'm working with a LEE reloading manual thats where I got the idea for 7828.
I have never seen load data for RL22... But after browsing the forums I have noticed many of you guys use RL22 so it must be pretty good I'm guessing ;)

You might as well try the 7828, you may find it works OK. It tends to fill cases up on heavier charges and I've found it works better with the heavier bullets. I've used it in 270wsm and 300 win. It gave compressed load in each, but with mag primers worked OK. I ended up with H4831sc in both, a little faster than 7828 and slower than 4350. RL22 is faster than 7828 and slower than 4831. If you have problem fitting charge of 7828 in case, use a longer drop tube on funnel, it helps. Here's a link for you, http://data.hodgdon.com/cartridge_load.asp to go along with your Lee book.
I haven't tried RL22 myself, because it's always gone, must be good.

Well guys I am roughly a hornaday comparator and primers away from loading my first 7mag handloads. I missed the gun show this weekend, so I probably won't find primers for awhile.
I browse midway regularly--about once a week, and I see that they have unleashed .357 SIG ammo. All of it is now "backorder ok" or available. This is a good sign because SIG ammo has been out of stock for almost 5 months roughly.
Hopefully this will mean that when ammo starts to come back primers and powder will soon follow. If primers and powder ever come back first thing I am going to do is buy 1 pound of RL22 (only because it is so highly recommended for 7mag got to give it a try) and buy some GM215M Federal primers.

I don`t think you`ll regret using RL 22.I have found excellent velocity and accuracy with nearly every bullet I tried with it.The `150 grain Nosler CT bullet became my choice with the combination of accuracy and velocity being there.I do tend to concentrate more on the accuracy than the velocity but when you get both where you want them,,Thats a good load .

I agree with Timber, I tried IMR 7828, H4831, Reloader 25 and didnt get the results that I wanted. I switched to reloader 22 and and have never looked back. I use the 162 gr Hornady interlock BTSP, and I wouldnt hesitate to use my load from coyotes to moose. Giv it a try, Im sure you will like it.

One thing is for sure.... The fireball coming out of the muzzle of your rifle! I've tried the IMR7828 in 7mmRemMag, 300WinMag, 338WinMag and the closer I got to an accurate loading(well beyond maximum listed in any manual-very compressed), the louder the rifle got.
So I set the camera at a safe distance to the side, used my remote to open the shutter(camera shutter set on ten seconds-yup, very dark outside), and took some photos. If I still had them on the hard drive I'd post them up...very cool!
Try the load development though....you may find it's the perfect powder for your rifle and the other components your using!
Scott (then get some RL22) B

I have had excellent luck with IMR-7828 in four different 7mm Rem Mag.
175 Nosler Partition
CCI-250 primers
WW -cases
66.0 grains IMR_7828
Muzzle Velocity 15' from the muzzle 3060 fps.
This load showed no signs of high pressure in all four rifles.
All rifles grouped (3 shots @ 100 yards) well under a inch.
Best of Luck

I agree with all the comments made above. I off all the powders I tried in my 7mm RM Reloader 22 was without a doubt the best. However I got decent results with H1000 and IMR 7828 also.

I have used a bucket load (literally) in a 7mm STW and it was the best powder that I could find for that extreme overbore at the time. I no longer own that fire breathing dragon...

in my 7mm rem mag i used imr4350 with fed 215 mag rifle primers and 160gr nosler partitions and you could drive a tack in at 100 yrds, you will find that whatever powder you use you should be able to work out a load that is good for your rifle, hope this helps, happy shooting
