I don't use a scope. I don't spend any more than anyone else and shoot an aggregate about 550. That doesn't win most matches but its measurable and competitive.
The folks I shoot with are doing the same and shoot agg's nearer 600 and win matches shooting nothing less than 77 gr. and probably all are shooting 1:7's (sooner or later) and some 1:6.5's.
The original poster asked if he should do anything different from what he's doing? It's as simple as determining where he's trying to get, be it 600yd x-rings or 300 yd potatoes.

I have been working with my Krieger barreled AR with a variety of handloads, and so far have not been able to shoot under .75" at 100 yards. I was hoping to get around 3/8 inch size groups with this combo, but so far have not been able. What is considered "accurate" for an AR at this range? (shooting Sierra 69 MK and either Varget or 2520)

While a properly tuned AR ia very accurate rifle, it's not a bench rest rifle. Imho 3/4"@100yds. is very good from an AR platform, especially if it will shoot those groups consistently.

I am shooting .34 inch groups with my Colt NM Ar 15 Hbar, I bought it because it was a week before Klinton's bill was to take over, plus I had the money. It was a match grade rifle for $600
Mine very capable of tight groups, but I use it for varmit hunting mostly.
I use 24 grains of IMR 4895 with a Sierra 69 grain bullet in it.
Tuning the rifle as well the load is very important with the AR. I suggest that the load matches factory spec or some known good match load, then start tinkering with your rifle.
