Wanting to load a somewhat reduced load. Have on hand, 140gr NoslerSP and RL19 and RL22 powder.
Alliant listed loads are RL19 at 67 grains for 3095fps from 24 inch barrel. Rl22 at 66 grains for 3074fps from same barrel. CCI 250 primer used. Both loads are close to what I am looking for, although a little slower would be good. Bullet listed is 140grain Speer SP.
Nosler data: RL19 powder from 61.5 grains at 3168fps up to 65.5 grains at 3318fps. Primer or barrel lenght not stated. These loads are for the Partition,Ballistic tip and Accubond.
As you can see, BIG difference in the two sources. Realize they useing different bullets, but would not think there should be this much difference as all are 140 grain spitzers.
Looking for any input on this information, or if you have some pet 7mm Rem Mag load useing 140 grain bullets and Rl19 or Rl22 powder, please list.
Thanks in advance.

hodgdon ( i believe)offer's some reduced loads geared with women and youth in mind, i have always been cautioned about using slower powders for reduced loads,anything slower than ww760 h414 4350( in various flavors)was the point where i was cautioned at ,hodgdon's reduced loads us h4895( mostly )which lends it's self better for reduced loads,sadly they dont list the round u wish to reduce
http://www.hodgdon.com/PDF/Youth%20Loads.pdf
different bullets of the same weight indeed call for diff loads,pure copper,pure copper jackets react differently than say guilding metal cups and lead boolits for that matter ,as a general rule boat tails are longer than plain based spitzers that again are longer than round nosed bullets ,keeping the c.o.l. the same using the same charge of powder will show remarkable differences on a chrony and possibly a too hot of a load on the boat tail or another bullet...i dont load for ur caliber so i can only give general tidbits (soz )

I can't reply on reduced loads, but for accuracy my 7mm mag a win 70 does .5" at 100 with 139 g H col = 3.29"/ 54.0g imr4320. 140 sirrea is close at .75" with 63.1 imr4831 col= 3.252. My gun does well with 160g sierra for larger game or longer range shooting.

OK,.. I just returned the other evening from my Wyoming elk hunt and saw your request. I think I have what your looking for using the ingredients you are asking about. Just so you know,.. this is a reduced load and is producing in the neighborhood of 2963 fps. It's a nice, mild whitetail load that won't be breaking the sound barrier by any means and should be a nice comfortable non flinching shot for any of you women sports-persons out there.
The recipe is as follows:
140 grain Nosler SP SolBase # 62490
63.8 grains Alliant Reloader #19
CCI #250 LR Magnum primers
CL = 2.50
COAL = 3.290
Muzzle Velocity = 2,963 fps
2,728 ft. lbs of energy
Ballistic Efficiency = 22.5%
Chamber Pressure = 48,681 psi (MAX Pressure = 62,366 psi)
using a 24 inch barrel
Hope this helps you out,..

Glad to be of assistance.
You might have to tweak the mix a bit for your firearm, but it's a good starting point for you. Try adding or dropping .2 of a grain in powder weight till you get the mix and accuracy your looking to achieve from the load for YOUR rifle.

The lowest I've gone with it was 63.5 grains of RL #19,... chronograph's out at just a tad over 2.900 fps.

Howdy!
Well, I started the new year right and bagged a nice 8 point white tail from about 100 yards with the load I got from Jeff, (Powder: IMR4350 - 55 Grs, Primer: CCI LR magnum (250), Bullet: Hornady Interlock 154 Gr. Spire point)
Dropped him right where he stood, BUT, when field dressing him, I found the round, and the jacket had seperated completely from the core - My partner said "He's still a dead deer," but I'm not 100% thrilled with that happening...

Hey, thanks, man! It really was a great hunt - He was chased out of a tree line about 2000 yards out by somebody big enough to do that - I'd sure like to see him jup close and personal...

Zebra Two, nice deer, I wouldn't worry too much about core and jacket seperation on deer. But in reality Hornady's interlock is just a sales gimmick. It's performance on game is no different than other cup and core bullets. Section one some time and you'll see what I mean. If you desire better performance from that bullet reduce your velocity by about 200 fps.

Hey, thanks very much, Swamp - Great advice and appreciated reassurance - Since I bought 100 of those suckers, I'll ramp the velocity down and have a look see.

Why do you want a magnum round then load it down They do make 7X57. 7-08's.
and why do you think 1.25 groups are good?
don't you think you would like less than .25 groups with RL22 68.0 grains 140 bulets?
If the recoil is what you don't want then get a muzzel brake on it.

Excuse me? I asked questions and got answers from a very nice and helpful member, and then you came along...
I don't know what you're on about with the reference to 7 x 57, 7-08, whatever - I don't own those weapons and don't plan to.
Why do I think 1.25" groups are good? Because for what I use the weapon for, that more than gets the job done - You want better, more power to you...
Do I think I'd like a tighter pattern better? To be honest, it doesn't sound like you're asking me, it sounds like you're just telling me that you're smarter than I am...
And finally, for the record, I have a muzzle brake on the weapon, but I didn't say a word about recoil, so I have no idea why you're instructing me again.
My bottom line is that I'm here to learn and share - I've shot and used weapons for a living and for self defense, as well as hunted for most of my life; I don't call myself an expert, just a reasonably experienced user - You don't like my thoughts, fine, but for the record, I don't take real kindly to being preached to.

I shoot a 7mm mag, my second high power hunting rifle. I was able to get less than 1" groups at the bench with 100 g bullets under pristine conditions, just trying out a varmint load I happened on. For hunting I use 139g, 154g and 160g bullets. Have had no luck with the 175g bullet getting under 1.75" at 100. My rifle is ported as in trying out differnt loads at the bench was not possible with out it. A group under 2" is in the kill zone for me shooting White Tail and Antelope when zeroed at 100. The 7mm mag is a great rifle for me. I have since acquired rifles for the long and heavy game hunting.
