I thought cast was the premium bullets.????

How you figure that? Cast? You use two different leads to make a cast bullet?

Where the controlled expansion?

If you buy alloy from Midway, they sure could be considered premium.:troll:

If the bullit is big enough you dont need no stinkin expansion. And it makes a deep hole you can eat right up to.

let him take the tangent ....it's his ride out of here ,...the bullet i reach for every time isnt even on the list and it's been around longer than most on the list to top it off it's even cheaper than most everything on the list and it hasnt failed me yet altho they did come out with a premium upgrade to it in the last couple of years
as for guessing .....i guess u try to overload some cartridges with bullets that were made for other calibers, every gun is a tool , sure u can pry open a paint can with a screwdriver or beat something with a crescent wrench instead of using a a hammer ,one of the most common mistakes with guns for a tool is someone tries using too lite of a bullet that was made for another caliber and cant figure out why it doesnt stand up to their magnum velocities..gee i dont know either ..perhaps because of the same thing it always boils down too - operator failure
and just so u know chuck unlike all the other boards u start stuff on we dont tolerate it here ,we are here to learn and discuss and civility is high on the list , i'd advise that if u cant leave the attitude at the door dont bother opening it ,we welcome questions, and discussions not smart alecky attitudes,we're not here to play games ( guessing or otherwise)if u ask a question and dont like the answer remember - u asked , dont ask if u dont like the answer ...end of

for antelope, exotics, deer, my favorite bullet is the nosler accubond. have been switching out my ballistic tip handloads to the same-weight accubond since they're introduction. just need a 120 .264, now. angles? pretty much every reasonable angle there is for a shot. front shoulder hit and missed at various times. close, off-side, both. lung. hasn't really mattered much on this sized game. distances? 70 - 500+ yds. used in .257 thru .308 caliber classes for the last several years. fast and slow velocity cartridges. have recovered a couple bullets over the years. they've shed a good bit of weight but mushroom well and hold together more reliably then the ballistic tips did / do.  all shots on game have resulted in devastating wound channels and quick kills. needless to say (but i will anyway), i've been happy with the performance.

i'm not necessarily sure the bullet's the "best" for elk.  i have a 200 gr. accubond load worked up for my warbird and would use it on elk if the opportunity presented itself without fuss or concern but my "go to"elk rifle (a .358sta) is loaded with a 280 gr. a-frame. any angle and distance i'm comfortable shooting on this size animal, i'm completely confident the bullet will get the job done. probable be the rifle / cartridge / bullet i use if i ever get my buffalo hunt booked, too.

polls intended for the "arguement" of bullet preference is probably as dumb a thing as their is. discussion is fine.  agruement     ...     nonsense.  truth be told, any damn bullet will work 95% of the time on deer. it's all preference. i like nosler but am sure someone out there has had just a pleasing success with __________ (fill in the blank) as i have. i like hearing why folks choose what they do and their experience with their prefered bullet but argueing the fact that one's any better then the other is truely pointless.

The partition is kinda like the 30/06.It set a standard a long time ago and is compared to,even today.A lot better has been developed since but either ones performance is still commendable.I have switched to the A-bond in my 270 and am pleased.

I like what kills meat and puts it on the table for me.Why are we discussing premium bullets in the cast section?
Everybody knows cast bullets and jacketed bullets are two totally types of projectiles.
I thought that is why we had a section for each....
Another thing, I back my staff members here.Getting lippy with a board founder(the guys who started this site is not wise). They are all nice guys as am I, but I only tolerate about .01% bull shit before someone takes a permanent vacation from the Handloaders Bench.FryGuy, watch this thread ,if it goes any further south, dx it.
