EEgads sept 10th is the opener for ml here in Ks, just watched the 7 day forecast, supposed to be 92 degrees for the opener, gonna make it rough to get em in and quartered with that kind of heat.

with all the ticks and skeeters around this year I wouldnt try it:lol:. I wont be doing any hunting but I'm going out to sit with my youngest boy to help him try to get his first deer, if he gets one I'm really going to enjoy watching him and his reaction to the gutting proc. , he has skinned and quartered but never been present for the more "smelly" part of it (he called me a wimp when I told him about my first time). Anyway it will be a good time wether we see anything or not.

What suprises me this year is that they are limiting bow hunters to certain sections.  On a side note is there any bow hunters that actually hunt during Rifle season. Most of the bow hunters I know stay as far away as possible during rifle.  Either way I'm looking forward to it. It will be my First time to actually get out on Opening day. I'm a happy camper hunting season is here again.   WUHOOOOOOO!!!!!!

  Take care Be safe Poacher.

Blkpwdernut I really hope your son gets his first, its so cool to see their reaction and then their mixed emotions ( some kids) and finally their pride in what they did!!! I wish him all the luck in his hunt:thumbs:

Blkpwdernut, it sure does make it hard when temps are so high. I wish your son the best of luck. When he is gutting his first deer tell him it doesn't always smell that bad, '' its just the heat''. :lol:By the way, maybe you could answer a question for me? I have been told that you have to buy new powder every year because it loses its umph! Is this true? I use Tripple 777.

Hunterfisher, no black powder doesnt lose its "umph" as long as you keep the can closed, not sitting on a shelf open. I'm still using Goex fffG that I bough 5 years ago. Dont know about the substitutes, dont use them.
