I shot this boar early today.  I'm estimating the pig to be about 300 lbs.  The rifle is a Rem 700 ADL in 30-06.  The handload is a 165 gr Hornady SST, 46.5 gr Varget, Fed 210 primer, and 3.230" OAL.  Gotta love those SST bullets.  I shot the boar from 150 yds away.  The bullet went in behind the right shoulder, broke 2 ribs, pulverized the liver, through the stomach and out the opposite side of the rib cage, breaking 2 more ribs.  The only thing was that there was no blood trail but the boar dropped about 20 yds away.

Those pigs look look like fun.

I've got a 30-06 ADL also and it is my best shooting big game rifle. Test loaded some 130 grain Hornady and Speer rounds for coyote and got 10 rnd groups all in one big ragged hole.

I've looked at those Hornady SST bullets but have not tried them yet.

The ADL can be converted into the BDL model with the floorplate if you want. I've done it with the 30-06 and another 223. All the holes are drilled in the right spots on bottom of reciever. I had to cannabilze the parts from 2 different BDL models which I had put into sniper stocks that didn't utilize the floor plate, in effect turned them into ADL's.

I know, I know...it sounds stupid sort of like a guy undergoing a sex change operation only to still want to be with women and turning into a lesbian .

Haaa you laugh but I had a buddy that worked in the mental health field and had some mandatory sex whatever workshop he had to attend and that was the instructor...a he turned into a she that acted like a he that wanted to be with she's.:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

How in the world do I get off the subject like this? Must be the -14 degrees outside right now :thumbs1: and I'm heading north for a week where it is worse. WildBill here I come!!!!

wolfkill - I saw a 20/20 episode awhile back about career Army officer, Special Forces, who upon retirement underwent a sex change so he could "be a women" but still wanted to be with women, as a women.  Freaky.

Walking Horse,

It's a nickname (from some movie) I've had at work for the last 20 years (cops can be a ruthless bunch).  Anyway, it's all in good fun and we're like a bunch of jackals...if you see an opening, you better take it because the others will not show mercy.

Wolfkill,

I've seen those converter parts to change the ADL into the BDL and I've always wondered how it might change the accuracy.  I won my ADL at a Mule Deer Foundation raffle so the price was right and I probably leave it as is as a cheapee rifle to loan to hunting partners who need a loaner.  As a side note, while growing up outside San Francisco, a neighborhood kid's mother (divorcee) had a female roommate who was in the Army.  The roommate lived at the house for years.  After the roommate got out of the Army, she got a sex change and turned into a man.  She and the kid's mother then put their relationship out in the open.  Back then, in the 1960's,  they raised alot of eyebrows.

Rick,

No I can't...I had one mounted that was about the same size with bigger tusks 3 years ago.  My wife said it was too ugly and told me to put it in the garage.  She had a cow when I told her how much the mount cost me ($700.00).  It now sits in the guest bedroom and when we have guests, I have to take it off the wall and hide it in my closet.

donger,                                                                                                                           I feel for you because have a good friend that his wife was the same way. My ex wife loved the mounts I had (no pun intended) And the last  girlfriend and currant one like them too. I'm single w/son so I feel it's my house and can put anything on the walls I want . I am running of of room though. Have 8 deer heads, a pronghorn head,a javalina head , 13 antelope horn, 3 deer and 2 elk racks on plauqes and a bighorn sheep head on a pedestal mount. Am I sick or what ? My freind went to Wyoming one year and shot a nice buck (deer) and a fair antelope, got them mounted and his wife told him she didn't want them in the house ! I told him to grow some balls. He put them in his garage... Told him you better bug proof them or your $800.00 investment not counting no res tags, gas, food, etc. will turn nasty looking in a couple of years. His wife comes over with him to my house and always has some b.s. to say about all the mounts on the walls. I always say hey, it's my house and it pleases me !  Trying to figure out how to mount a big bull elk head with 8 ft. ceilings :confused2:

WildBill,                                                                                                                        I'm kinda lame when it comes to computers but was wondering if you could tell me how to view or download pics like dongers. I don't see an attachment or something to click on  Also would appreciate if you could tell me who to send digital pics to your site if I wanted to show one. Thanks for any help you can give me.                      Don

Wyo, you're making me jealous.  My gonads must be the size of 22's compared to yours.  Anyway, I don't think there's nothing more beautiful than a room with oak furniture with wall-to-wall head mounts.  It took me a 'lil while to figure out but posting pics is pretty easy.  Open up an account with photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com).  Once you have an account, store your photos in an album.  Then when you're posting a new topic or reply on a website, click the right button on the mouse on the photo and click "copy".  Then on your topic or reply, click the right button on the mouse and click "paste".  Your photo will then appear on the message.

Don, your not able to see dongers pics?

Photobucket is the easiest way to go for posting pics.  You upload them from your computer into photobucket.  Once your pics are in there.  You copy the IMG tag from under your pic in photobucket, then paste it into your post.

If you need more help just ask me.

Bill

Donger and WildBill,    Thanks for replying to me ! I tried photobucket.com at work and it websensed me. I will try it at home. Donger, my nads are of normal size ! I'm a bachelor with a son. There's no woman going to tell me how to decorate my house ! I always tell them if they don't like something there's the door. Too old to take that crap. My bighorn is on a pedistal mount that you can pull it off the poll or turn it around. The pedistal is made of a oak hexigon and has sage brush, rocks, etc. on the top and underneath in the middle. Pretty cool looking. Cost me about $750.00 total. I was looking in a Van Dykes taxadermy catalog the other day and they have some awesome pedistals made out of aspen logs. Wish they had them then or I knew about them. Much more natural looking. I know what you mean about the oak though ! I printed out both of your replys to take home and try the photobucket  Thanks again and take care.                                                                                 Don

WildBill, I forgot to answer you about seeing Donger's pics. What do I click on to open up the pics ? Do I have to do it from the photobucket site ?  I can click on your website attachments and open them . I don't see any attachments on Dongers letter though ???

Don, dongers pics are visable without clicking on them.  Are you using internet explorer or firefox.  I think you have the show images option turned.
You'll need to change that setting in your options under the tools menu of your browser.  If you need a step by step to change it.  Let me know what browser your using and I'll do it.
