Hello All, I just thought I would whine about luck sometimes. I was hunting on the 20th with my buddy, waiting for my friends son to make it up, he is 14 and on his first tag along hunt this year. I drew a tag and he did not! He was going to see and help, to see if he really wanted to hunt. At about noon on Sat, I found a great looking healthy fork buck, and decided since the weather was to worsen with high winds on Sunday, I should take the shot. I hunt for meat only BTW. A .243 100 gr. pill took out all the heart vessels, leaving it to pop right out at gutting time. 3000 fps at 50 yrds, and that Sierra bullet expanded with no fragments after a slipping into intercostal muscle on the entrance, and one dead center hit on the off-side. I should have used a bonded bullet. LOL. Just kidding! Well, he is butchered by me and ready to eat in the freezer. Only 5 hours of hunt kind of bummed me out, ya know! But meat is meat!! Good luck to the rest of you guys on your season, and may your freezers always be full!
