I hunted at the Walking Horse Ranch this weekend with MarkV and my son Cody.Rainy and bitterly cold I took a blackbuck doe antelope my first evening with my 223 AI and a handloaded 50 grain Nosler Ballistic tip.It was a neck shot at about 90 yards. She was dead before she hit the ground.I was pleased with the performance of the 223 AI.This rifle started life a standard 223 Rem.I sent it off to Kirby Allen of Allen Precision Shooting in Montana and he reamed the chamber for me.   Its a sweet shooter. Here is some evidence of its ability.

Hahha.yeah I hear ya bro.Wife bought me a new 12x zoom to replace the Nikon I have worn out in Iraq.Cody, took a little too long yesterday trying to get a shot on a cull whitetail buck and he was off into the cedars. He wasn`t too upset though knowing I will be home to hunt with him all of next season.
I have some more pics of animals.I had a run in with a super nice whitetail buck:thumbs:I wasn`t trophy hunting so he was safe.If I had been,I would`ve put this nice 8 point on my wall and been eating good.
Scott I have my jerky machine working now.Making some jerky for MarkV with my old recipe. After its done.I am gonna fireup about 10 pounds of antelope jerky.Everyone says these blackbuck are better eating than whitetail.Gonna make jerky of the hams and shoulders ,then butterfly the backstarps and have some for breakfast tomorrow with green chilies, onions and scrambled eggs.:thumbs:

If that doesn`t get your blood pumping nothing will.

Yeah, seeing that Whitie it would have been hard not to amend the management hunt to a trophy hunt.  lol.

Got lots of ranches around that offer those blackbuck.  Would like to book one for a buck.  Probably will after I get my ram grand slam finished.

Looks like the AI did real well for ya.

Great to see ya hunting, bud.  And enjoy breakfast tomorrow.  It sounds good !!!

Korey, roger that bro.I quit hunting seriously after the first war.I swore I wouldn`t do that again.and I wont.
The blackbuck antelope are really pretty animals bud.I glassed a really nice buck that was a trophy and he fed around in front of me at 100 or so yards with a group of 3 does and a baby blackbuck.Honestly,I felt the urge to see how he liked Nosler bullets. When I get home for good from Iraq,I plan on treating myself to a blackbuck hunt,a mule deer hunt and an elk hunt.:thumbs:I don`t have all the details yet but I know where I am hunting a blackbuck!!!:thumbs:If you ever get the hankering, come see MarkV and add a few hogs in to the mix and a few whities too!:wink:He`ll do ya right and you`ll experience the best the hill country has to offer serious hunters.

MarkV, will do bro.I have to download the last evenings pics of my Kodak.Got a bunch of nice fallow(sp) deer shots and a few blackbuck pics of momma and baby antelope on it as well as some more good pics of that 8 point whitetail.:thumbs:Call me about chow tomorrow.
Gene

Nice job on that antelope Gene.    Sounds like you had a great weekend.

I'm enjoying the picture of the whitetail.....     That's a real nice looking deer.   Maybe he'll hang around long enough and you'll be the one to get him.

Congrats on the hunt.   GR

Congrats on the hunt TG.  I'm glad you had a chance to hunt with your boy.  Venison jerky sounds good.  I wont be makin any this year.  I couldn't find a deer that was willin to let me turn him into jerky.  I'll make up for it next year.

Hey Bill, sorry ya didn`t tag one out bud..Always next year.Same here,I won`t tag a big whitetail this season.First year in many years I won`t harvest a whitetail but my situation takes precedence over that I guess. So next year I will have to double up and take an extra nice whitetail buck.
