Lets start a new thread with your best big game photos. It doesn`t matter if its a trophy you have taken or a animal you happened to capture on film.I love pics and take a lot of them when I am out hunting. If you would, add a short caption of what you photographed .So lets see what you have.:thumbs:I`ll start it out.
This is my favorite. My son Cody with his first deer.It was a nice fat ,good eating spiked buck he took on the Walker Ranch in Cherokee ,Texas. You can tell he was hooked on deer hunting.

This is my second favorite photo, taken with a Model 10 Tactical Savage in 308 Win and one of my handloads.
This is the first buck I killed while rattling for myself.I had rattled bucks in before but I couldn`t pass this guy up.

Here's my nephew Dalton with the 8-pointer I took with my crossbow in '04.  Dalton was with me on this hunt and many others, he has been good luck for me.  We've killed many deer together.  Now he's old enough to hunt on his own so I haven't had my lucky charm with for a couple years.

Here's me with the same deer.

Here's the mount.

Here's a trail-cam pic of a cat that was identified by Texas Doc as a hybred Mountain Lion Lynx mix.

This was a little doe I got in '05 I think.  This was the first year Dalton was old enough to hunt.  He decided to take a day off and hunt with Uncle Bill.  It was the one time that year and last time Dalton hunted with me.  The only deer I got that year.  Just goes to show what a lucky hunting partner can do for you.  He's batting 1000% since he started hunting.  His second year he dropped 3 in about 30 seconds.  Heart shot on a doe, and 2 standing head shots on fawns the first day of rifle season.  This year he got his first bow kill.

Dalton's first bow kill with his little brother Austin who starts hunting next year.

This was kind of a neat hunt.  It was the second to last weekend of the 2005 season.  A sunday.  My dad, bro and I had seen this buck the entire season but just across fences on "no hunting" land fiddling around with a huge group of does that never seemed to have any intentions of making their way over to us.  I mean it was like clock-work, no matter when we headed up, he'd be out there.  Prospects were very sparce that particular year and after many, many hours of glassing this high 2x2 I'd kinda settled on the thinking that if he ever did make the mistake of coming over, I'd happily break my self-impossed 4x4 point minimum and take the shot.  Anyway, this Sunday I'd woke up late.  Really, I had no desire to head up to the hill so late and was planning to settle into the recliner for some football on the tube.  My bro was hunting elsewhere and dad had to go to church.  Out of the blue, my wife says she'd tag along, if I wanted a hunting partner.  I figured what the heck.  Getting out with the wife would be good.  Sun was out but it was bitterly cold so I knew she wouldn't do any major walking but it never hurts to drive up and check things out.  And what do we find when we get up there but 9 does had made their way over to a coulee on our place and Mr. 2x2 had followed them over.  My wife dropped me off out of site and she when to park where she could watch it all unfold in the spotter.  I had to make a bit of a stalk and that got me in position above the group but they were out of site.  I had to wait for them to get up and move and when they did it was over quick.  It was the first kill my wife had actually witnessed.

Something else that made it special is this was the first deer taken with my grandfathers old Springfield that my bro had worked into a .280 A. I.  All the animals that he had talken in MT over the years hunting with it, it felt good using it.

Walking up to the animal I was laughing at myself for shooting my first 2x2 and only after getting up close did I see there was actually 1 1/2" pointers on each front.  Good lord, I'd gotten a 3x3.  LOL.  He had the mass, width and frame of some of my other 145" class Mulies but this poor guy just didn't have the genes to produce a front or back point worth talking about.  Even so, I felt extremely fortunate to have had the wife talk me into going up to the hill on the same day this guy decided to come on over.

Well, since I'm new here I'll go ahead and post a few pics to sorta introduce myself and what I do ... MOOSE HUNTING !!!

I love everything about it, well maybe not the rain, "aww hell I love the rain too !!"

Although I did not on this particular hunt, my brother Mark and I spotted a couple big bulls early on in the season in full velvet, so being a picky bunch we let them go not wanting to waste a good rack we let them age and came back late in the season. Tell ya what this was one of the most difficult hunts I have ever had, If anything could go wrong it did, torrential rain, flooding, wind, freezing temps, brown bear raids & tent shredded, black bears ate all our food, 4-wheeler down a cliff, mechanical failures you name it just about everything happened..

Looking back on it all I came to the realization that I will never forget that season, It will remain the most memorable and favorite hunt for me and my bro'..

We both got a nice bull out of the whole ordeal,

here's a pic of mine

Guess I'll have to add the "on-the-4-wheeler-picture" after I tag it?

But until then:

This buck was taken by my brother-in-law. He measured 178 B&C. I blew an opportunity to shoot him earlier in the day, because I was too busy focussing on three does. I had already passed on close to two dozen does and 8-point bucks, looking for the big boy on opening day. For some unknown reason, I got a severe case of brain damage and raised my rifle to get a better look at the last doe, rather than waiting patiently for the big buck to follow. A typical rookie hunting mistake, but this is after 44 years of hunting experience. No excuses. When I finally saw the buck, he was off to my right. He saw me first, while I was preoccupied with the does, wheeled around and was gone before I could swing the rifle to bear. I was sick about it, but I'm glad my brother-in-law got him. Oh, well. It's like my dad said, "Don't worry about it. You can't shoot 'em all."
