I took this Button Buck last week from one of my Tree Stand in VA with my Ruger Blackhawk 4.5 inch 44 Mag.  Load 250 gr Keith Cast , 20 gr 2400 and CCI 300 Primer.  The shot was about 30 yards . I was think it was a doe but it was a small button buck.  I love hunting with a Handgun. Backstrap for the frying pan.

Very nice.  I'm itching to use my handguns.  Main problem I have is the terrain I hunt.  I need to get something figured out where a fewcloser range opportunities are possible.  Have to think on that this off-season.  Again, nice work !!!

You need to take one those old Texas hogs with your 357.  Handguns are the only way to hunt hogs.

Congrats, The woods are too thick for a rifle on my place. Much easier to pack a Blackhawk!

Beal way to go! Yep, those 44 mags do get the job done on whitetail in the hardwoods.  Many years ago, I was forced to hunt with a handgun because I could not walk into the woods carrying a rifle or any kind. I got a reprieve that deer season, when I told folks I was going hunting. Most of them laughed out loud, no joke, as I was confined to a bed.  I made a few phone calls and asked some of the guys to carry me out there behind the barn a 100 yards and place me under that big cedar tree. I had one of those walkie talkie's back then in case something came up with my health etc.

My model 29 Smith & Wesson with 8 & 3/8ths barrel, loaded up with 240 grain Sierra Hollow Cavity bullets made a believer out of any deer, that got within 75 yards of me. I did shoot several deer the next few years with that mighty 44 mag. There was just something about that particular caliber that seemed to bring deer down to the ground faster than hitting them with a 30-06 and 165 grain bullet.

Now two years later my wife shot the biggest buck on record in Miller county Missouri with the Ruger 44 mag semi-auto rifle I had purchased the year before. Needless to say, she ended up keeping that rifle for quite awhile. Hats off to the mighty 44 mag!.
