I have two cow elk tags. I have been putting in for a trophy area in Colroado and have 15 pref. points. That is how many I need to get a bull tag next year, and there are only 17  applicants with 15 points . They let 20 tags go each year. So next year is my year. The last few years I have been hunting cows, as Colorado will let a preson have two tags in certain areas. It gives me a chance to go twice. The 1st tag is a muzzle loader tag , and I will probably do a pack in hunt using my three mules into the Flat Top Wilderness area in NW Colorado for 10 days. The 2nd tag is for the 1st season, and that will be into the Eaglenest Wilderness area north of Vail CO, along the Gore range for a 5 day hunt. I also have a buck deer tag for the 3rd season, another 10 day hunt..

I looked into Utah, but the price of the tags, and the prospect of ever getting one was prohibative for me .

didn't draw a s.d. tag again this year. expect i'll draw next year or '07. i anticipate being out of school in may, which means i'll hopefully have a job and can find time off to go hunt colorado w/ the in-laws in '06... until then, i'll hunt vicariously thru you fellers.

I will be hunting 2nd rifle season at the edge of Colorado's Flat Tops Wilderness with both bull and cow tags in my pocket. I think I can get a leftover deer tag for the same season as well.

Good Luck to everbody!
