Hey guys the person on the Nitro Express Forum just finished his 375 H&H bullet penetration testing including the 350g Woodleighs. The premium plus bullets like TSX's, Swift A-Frames, North Fork, Speer Trophy Bonded did very well. The 350 Woodleigh Protected Points results were very interesting. Here are 3 links in order of the tests:

By the way, in my thoughts on the results I don't mean to imply that velocity isn't important. Velocity just makes bullet construction that much more important, and velocity by itself (which contributes both to energy and momentum) is not a replacement for sectional density in my opinion. A 350g Swift A-Frame or (improved Woodleigh with A-Frame like technology)out of a 375 Wby at 2550 fps might likely provide near 416 Remington like performance (though probably like recoil too ...).

Regards,
Chuck

By the way the Woodleighs were only loaded to 2185 fps,  2350 fps plus is definitely doable within normal pressure ranges.  The Norma PH ammo for the 375 H&H advertises 2300 fps using Woodleigh 350g bullets.   Probably better off staying with the regal 375 H&H shooting 350g bullets at 2400 fps than going up to the 375 Wby for another 150 fps ...

Damn, sorry guys, I figured you would only need access to post or search.  I'll see if the author of the tests will join and post his results.

Rod said he'd sign up for the board and repost his results.  I'm sure he'll do it in a day or too.

Cheers,

  Chuck

Good deal!

Like the 375, just don't think I'd take the punishment of shooting all those rounds for a penetration test?  Ouch!!
