Hey Phil..What is an average number of Hunters for you to guide in a season?Do you ever get tired of guiding?

I ask this because I was guiding on a 1400 acre tract for feral hogs.It was surrounded by large ranches with trophy class whitetails and  feral hogs on three sides.I got tired of the poor shots, unsighted rifles, walking safety hazards that gave me the willy`s, bad behavior, shoot it for a pic people..etc.

Do you ever encounter clients like this?

I enjoyed it most of the time but the bad apples left a taste in my mouth for guiding.

TG,

I don't really get tired of it. I did tire of it in South Africa. But Tanzania, every hunt has some sort of dangerous animal involved in it. So if you are hunting dangerous game, there is dangerous animals around. Best have your wits about you.

I have only had 3 guys that could not shoot. 1 Client missed (not wounded, missed) an Elephant at 40 yards. Another tried to shoot everything off hand with his scope set at 12 power. And one client, if I would have asked him to shoot himself would have missed !

However, I will be the first to say, I have been blessed with clients that can really shoot, as well !

There are a few things I go over with each client, like don't shoot your P.H. and other things regarding saftey.

At the end of this story, I have the best job in the world. It can get dangerous, but if you are a bit "switched on", you will do OK.

Hope that answers.

Best,
Phil

Phil,Thats what it is all about:thumbs:.You like it and you`re good at it.What more could a fella want than be able to hunt as much as you want.I guess technically  the client is hunting but you put him on the game so its still hunting. And you are packing to back him up as a stopper if something goes wromg on his end..:thumbs:Thanks for the reply, its food for thought for me..
