Evening Fellas >> Went up with Kirby and Dad tonight as Kirby worked on his 1000 yd. connection (he'll expand on that, when he can). As we were headed home for the evening we spooked up a varmint I'd never had the opportunity to shoot ... a jack rabbit .
I certainly didn't have a rifle with me appropriate for the range this rabbit happened to be standing, BUT, I did have my CZ52 7.62x25 Tokarev and some mil-sup FMJ ammo that I'd thrown into my pack of stuff for this trip.
Kirby pulled over real quick-like, I chambered a round, held a shade high and let fly on a shot of 40 yds. Right over the top. What the heck was I holding over for? I hadn't run this ammo over the chrony but if they are going anywhere near the advertised velocities of the round, it really is a flat shooting little sucker. Silly me. The rabbit choose to hold his position so I readjusted my aim, with no hold-over, and pop. That one did it. He flopped around for a bit and gave up.
First blood for this little semi-auto. Fun way to end another successful varminting trip with the Allen crew.
Hello 40 yd. club !!! G-night all. >> korey

| Good shot Korey. That little Tokarev seems to be coming in handy.

Thanks, Guys. Neat opportunity, last night. I've seen lots of jack's over the years but usually only their backsides as they're scooting to the next county. Aweful skitish creatures. Except this one, I guess. Population seemed to be low, for a while there. Don't know if the coyotes were getting to the young or what. But they seem to be on the way back. Some might not like hearing that but it's good news for the heavy duty varminter.
Ya know I very much love the long range varmint scene but close range, open sighted handgun varminting, when the opportunity presents itself, is sure a kick in the pants, too.
This CZ is great. I certainly waited far to long in getting one. Solidly constructed, easy to shoot, reasonably accurate and chambered for one hot little round, taboot. I've had lots of fun with it since the purchase. Kinda suprised at the damage that FMJ did on the way out.
Chat with ya later. >> korey

Hey Korey im just down the road in Idaho. We love going out just to shoot jackrabbits fun and fast little targets. Back in the 80s they introduced(they the govt.) a venereal disease that made they sterile. now they seem to be coming back in some areas. but they make for fun afternoon. pistol or rifle hell i ever took a shotgun one time there where so many had a kid in tow and he was "wooo daddy shoot another" lots of fun and memories. just getting out nad enjoying what ever it is in your area share it with a kid and teach them ..... I can remember my first kill .... hmmm maybe we need a talk about that. I just might start one. Any shooting is fun but share it with your kids or grandkids for you old farts.
Kev
PS i need to find out how to post pics?if anyone can help
