FIRST OF ALL A .38 WILL REALLY MESS UP A GROUD HOG IF U CAN GET CLOSE ENOUGH. I also hate groundhogs probably more than you. there is nothing worse than hitting a groundhog hole on a tractor and almost being thrown off. i do alot of groundhog hunting and I usually use my .204. but sometimes i use my 17hmr depending on where i am. theres alot of houses around our fields now and people just dont seem to like the loudness of the 204. but i could care less.
