Mowed the field behind my Va home last week and left the hogs without their cover. I nailed five but one crawled into a big brier patch and i could get in to get him out, but the other four dropped without a twitch. I was using my Savage 22 Magnum and the Federal Sierra 30 gr HP. Three shot just over 100 yards and two at about 60 yards. The 22 magnum really kills them dead in their tracks, One shot each. The one that crawled into the thicket was shot going away up the butt the other four where hit in the shoulder and the neck. Real easy sitting on the porch drinking tea and potting hogs. I worked really hard for these varmints..

sounds life a fun afternoon.  kinda like a rock chuck shoot here in Idaho.  I used to live between lynchburg and appomatox in Va had lots of chucks to shoot.  Even stoned one to death as a kid while visiting grandparents..... did you know they can climb a tree? this one got about 10 feet up a tree and my cousin and myself pelted him with rocks till he fell out and we finshed him off on the ground.  Prob get messages from PETA on that comment.  oh well people eating tasty animals never bothered me b4.

Groundhog hunting is a lot of fun and the farms around here are just littered with them. Sometimes I wonder if they're raising them. I started hunting them with my Savage Striker .243Win pistol and I'm having a blast. I doubt if I'll even take a rifle out this year.
