A farmer called me the other day and told me the coyotes had killed three lambs and one of his calves in the last two weeks and wanted to know if i would try to kill them for him. I told him i didn't like hunting them when they are whelping but he said they where costing him 200.00 for every lamb they killed. I went over this evening and looked at the place and set up with the Fox-Pro caller , 10 min after calling one came in and i dropped it at about 100 yards with the 55 Nosler BT in 223 with my AR . Talk about one happy farmer, he was, and said he can't wait for me to come back.

what's the twist on your ar?

i'm still trying to figure out a good load for mine. first test loads, i started at minimum loads in the sierra manual loads for the ar. small base sized the brass, and loaded 'em up. first shot (min. load) blew the primer (fed brass, aa2230, fed primer, sierra 63's). so, i've just been dickin' around w/ factory ammo - as much as i shoot the ar, it doesn't matter (only has 51 shots thru it and i've had it for a year or so - one hot handload, and 50 bha factory loads).

That is awesome bea. I just got back from West Texas (Marfa) hunting (20 hrs drive).

It was windy most of the time. I did finally get my AR and harvested it 1st victim, HOG. It was a blast stalking them. I will have to get pics up.

Way to go on the coyote.

God Bless,

Song Dog

My AR has the 1-9 twist. The load i use is the Nosler 55 BT with 25 gr of Win 748 and CCI Mag primer ,OAL 2.250, this load group in the 1/2 inch range at 100 yards.

One more thing, in my experence loading for the AR , you don't need small base dies, the regular dies work very well.
