Swamp,

I find that they are best dispatched in the cold when they get really brave and come foraging near the house. Which happened a lot last winter. They try to get my barn cats and the neighbors ankle biters.

During the warmer month, they aren't so brave, but I can reach out and touch them easily, now I can do this from my new deck.

I hadn't thought about using my turkey call, thanks for that Idea.

Jerry

When I started calling  predators in arizona one of the experienced  predator hunters told me to always have my back protected never call in an open area ,he was calling coyotes and turned around  & noticed a bobcat was stalking him he was able to scare it off .Many other predators can respond ie: mtn lion, bobcat, fox, deer, bear, birds of prey, wolf, feral dogs & cats.

Here ya go, my first dog. I was turkey hunting. After about 15 minutes of calling,
this mut came in running and tore up my turkey decoy. It was the last turkey this
mut ever ate. He got 2 rounds of #5 shot and dropped like a rock. It was just as
much fun as hunting turkeys.

Now I'm hooked,,,,,,,,savage
Good stuff bud :thumbs:welcome to the wonderful world of yote huntin:wink:I assure ya,you`ll wanna hunt em more than deer or turkeys the more of it ya do..

I got one this morning at about 40 steps w/ my iron sighted muzzleloader. ran past and wouldnt stop for a whistle so i squeeked (a sound i make w/ my mouth like a real tight kiss) her in and shot her flat in the chest as she was looking at me.

45-50 pound bitch out of the woods should save some turkeys and fawns in the future.

I tried w/o success to explain your tight kiss to other hunters but I do it against my thumb and forefinger using my cupped had as the bell to direct the sound. It has worked on birds of prey and other critters.

I use a kind of tight kiss on squirrels out here...but I put my thumb and forefinger up to my lip and wiggle my hand as Im making the sound. It makes a sound similar to  a noise that some of the squirrels out here make when they are mad or feel you invaded their territory...Robin

I bark at squirrels with my Circe 3 reed predator call  death screams of cottontail, jackrabbit & a coaxer now owned by Lohman Calls.Circe originated in AZ & I bought mine when I was a student at the univ of az  from 1961 to 1963 getting my   wildlife mgt. biologist bs degree, used it to bring in coyotes but interestingly deer ,javelina, foxes sometimes came in when other wildlifers were calling.

Sako6,

I would like to have one of those calls. The weather is cooling down and the coyotes are starting to come up to the house. I laid some pavers down under my deck and now can show from there to stay out of the weather.

Good Hunting to one and all,

Jerry
