I took these four this morning in Va with my Anschutz in 17 HMR and the Hornady 20 gr XTP HP. One gray and three fox squirrels . I saw six this morning but one hid on me before i could get a shot and the other i could have killed but could never got the chance for a head shot . I will only shoot if i can make a head shot which means i watch them cutting for a while until they offer me this shot. I love squirrel hunting and it is great practice for stalking and shot placement for big game hunting. If you can stalk a squirrel and make the shot without him knowing you are around then big game hunting is much easier. I love it.

My first hunting experiences were with my uncle, hunting squirrels in the wods of east Texas.  Lots of fun.

Your .50 will no doubt work, uh, "definitively." I liked my .36 flinter when I lived where there WERE any squirrels. Good luck!
