I usually ease up on hunting yotes in the summer heat around here.It gets just plain old miserable hot around here this time of year for yotes and hunters alike.I don`t care much for night hunting so I limit my hunts to early morning and sometimes an hour before dark.

It already 96-97 degrees in the daytime here and we haven`t even scratched the ticket on July and August yet.Along with the heat here comes the onslaught of chiggers. They put a serious hurting on me too.Welps about the size of a dime all over your legs is not a lot of fun..:wink:I wear dog flea collars around my boots but I still get a few on me.Overall, hunting really stinks for the next few months around here.

Do any of you fellas change your hunting styles or tactics to accomodate the heat of summer?

Hey Timber it is very hot here. This morning no luck on calling, but got a couple of groundhogs, one with the 223 and the other with the 17 Hornady and the 20 gr XTP HP. the shot was about 60 yards never moved out of its tracks. I only took a photo of the 17 Hornady kill. The 17 Hornady is one wicked little round.

Hey Timber in the woods right behind me in the photo with the groundhog , there is a den of yotes with three pups that are about the size of a small fox. I left the groundhog i killed with the 223 next to the den, for them to have for breakfast and is why i don't have a photo of it. I am try to fatten them up for the kill.
